Pokémon Unite Season 9 welcomes three new Pokémon to its expanding roster, with unique movesets based on its icy stacking effects. The Ice-type Pokémon, Glaceon, is one of the new Pokémon to arrive, which will undoubtedly keep "things cool" on Aeos Island with its chilling abilities.
As one of many Eevee evolutions or "Eeveelutions," Trainers will want to have the best build to take with them into battle. This guide details how to unlock Glaceon and the best Pokémon build, including moves, Held, and Battle Items, to guide your team to victory.
Pokémon Unite – How To Unlock Glaceon
Glaceon is an Ice-type feline-like Pokémon introduced in the Generation IV installment of the Pokémon series. First introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Glaceon is one of eight Eevee evolutions, commonly referred to as "Eeveelutions."

Glaceon is well-known for its adorable game design, resembling an Arctic animal, its skillful abilities, which makes them one of the best-ranged attackers, and its cool demeanor. Additionally, it possesses one of the highest Special Attack (Sp. ATK) stats amongst the non-legendary Ice Pokémon and other "Eeveelutions."

There are a few ways Trainers can get Glaceon in Pokémon Unite; the first is by participating in the Icy Glaceon Challenge limited-time event. Currently available in-game until 14th August 2022, you can join battles, complete challenges, and other activities to obtain the Pokémon's Unite license without spending Aeos Gems.
Once the challenge ends, the Pokémon's Unite license can be purchased from the Unite Battle Committee store for 575 Aeos Gems. Furthermore, should you obtain the Unite license as an event reward after acquiring the Pokémon, you'll receive 10,000 Aeos Coins.
Pokémon Unite – Best Glaceon Held and Battle Items
Glaceon has a unique moveset with its elegant yet powerful attacks, but to further enhance them; you'll need the best Held and Battle Items to complement its build. Trainers can either opt for an Sp. ATK or Critical Hit build, where the former has a higher success rate, and the latter is a more versatile and reliable build for Glaceon.
For an Sp. ATK build, we recommend the following Held and Battle Items for Glaceon:
Special Attack Build
- Held Items:
- Wise Glasses: Special attack damage gets increased
- Shell Bell: All Special Attacks will grant 45 HP of healing, and a percentage of Special Attacks
- Choice Specs: Damage from moves is increased, with more Special Attacks meaning more significant damage.
- Battle Item:
- X Attack: Increase basic ATK speed by 25% while ATK and Sp. ATK receives an increase of 20% for seven seconds. OR
- X-Speed: Boost the Pokémon's movement speed up to 30%, making them unsusceptible to movement speed reduction for six seconds.
Wise Glasses and Choice Specs are the best item pairing for Glaceon, maximizing on increasing Sp. ATK stats for additional damage dealt. However, the Choice Specs will grant a greater increase in Sp. ATK, making the Wise Glasses somewhat less valuable. As a result, you can switch it out for the Focus Band.
Critical Hit Build
For a Critical Hit build, we recommend the following Held and Battle Items for Glaceon:
- Held Items:
- Muscle Band: Glaceon will inflict bonus damage using its basic attacks by 1/2/3% of the enemy's remaining HP.
- Scope Lens: Additional damage dealt will be equivalent to 45/60/75% of Glaceon's ATK stat when a Crit Hit is used with a basic attack
- Buddy Barrier: Glaceon and any ally with a low HP will receive a shield for 15/20/25% of their max HP stat once a Unite Move is used
- Battle Item:
- X Attack: Increase basic ATK speed by 25% while ATK and Sp. ATK receives an increase of 20% for seven seconds. OR
- X-Speed: Boost the Pokémon's movement speed up to 30%, making them unsusceptible to movement speed reduction for six seconds.
The Muscle Band is a widely used Held Item for most builds and Pokémons as the item allows the Pokémon to stack their attacks for its Level 4 Passive Ability, Snow Cloak. In addition, the Scope Lens enhances Glaceon's Crit Hit capabilities, while the Buddy Barrier aids the Pokémon with healing once a Unite move is used.
However, you can switch out the Buddy Barrier for the Focus Band to boost defensive stats and healing. Additionally, you can switch out the Scope Lens for the Razor Claw, but the Scope Lens is a fair better item in terms of Crit Hit rate as the damage dealt is greater than the Razor Claw.
Pokémon Unite – Best Glaceon Moveset
Glaceon is a ranged attacker, perfectly blending beauty with a flurry of mid to long-ranged and AoE damage attacks. From icicles to ice-cold winds to shards and snowstorms, this Pokémon constantly deals increasing amounts of damage to enemies as its attacks get boosted with every "Eeveelution."
Starting every battle as a Level 1 Eevee, it will evolve into Glaceon once it reaches Level 4; however, we don't know how Boost Emblems could impact Glaceon's moveset and Battle Held Items. Below, we have outlined the best moveset for Glaceon in Pokémon Unite:
- Level 1: Swift and Tail Whip
- Level 4: Icicle Spear
- Level 6: Ice Shard
- Unite Move: Glacial Stage
Eevee's default moves, Swift and Tail Whip, are learned at Level 1; however, once it reaches Level 4, you can upgrade its Swift move to Icy Wind or Icicle Spear. Based on damage output, Icicle Spear edges out Icy Wind primarily if Glaceon is relying on inflicting additional damage from its boosted basic attacks.
It works well with its Unite Move, whereas the Icy Wind won't stack well with the Unite Move. Additionally, you can still move while using Icicle Spear, while the Icy Wind could leave Glaceon open to incoming attacks and lose out on an opportunity to deal more damage.
If you upgrade Glaceon's Tail Whip at Level 6 to Ice Shard and not Freeze Dry, they can get an added ATK speed boost when using the Ice Shard ability if Trainers equip the X Attack Battle Item. This ability will aid the Pokémon to help them deal more damage, as the Freeze Dry ability will offer a lower damage output.
