After days of waiting, Niantic has fully released today all the information regarding its next event, Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto, which will begin the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the franchise and the fifth anniversary of the game.
This special event will be held on Saturday, 20th February, from 9 am to 9 pm, local time. In order to participate, players will have to buy the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto ticket, which will be on sale inside the in-game store for US$11.99, or its equivalent in local currency.

This event will have a special feature, since as with the games in the main saga, players must choose which version of the event they want to play, taking as a reference the first titles of the franchise, Pokémon Red and Green.
By choosing either version of the event, you will have access to the following:
Red Version
- Exclusive Pokémon: Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther, and Electabuzz will be attracted to Incense.
- You’ll have an increased chance of encountering these Shiny Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Ekans, Pikachu, Nidoran ♀, Oddish, Diglett, Mankey, Growlithe, Ponyta, Shellder, Drowzee, Krabby, Hitmonlee, Lickitung, Scyther, Electabuzz, Eevee, Kabuto y Dratini.
Green Version
- Exclusive Pokémon: Sandshrew, Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Magmar and Pinsir will be attracted to Incense.
- You’ll have an increased chance of encountering these Shiny Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Pikachu, Sandshrew, Nidoran ♂, Vulpix, Meowth, Psyduck, Bellsprout, Geodude, Exeggcute, Hitmonchan, Koffing, Tangela, Horsea, Magmar, Pinsir, Eevee, Omanyte y Dratini.
Additionally, Niantic has confirmed that the 150 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will be available as Shiny Pokémon, some of them for the first time.

In addition, all those who manage to collect the first 150 Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto, will receive great rewards. However, in case a player does not manage to get all of them on the day of the event, the Collection Challenge will be available until 28th February.
Several bonuses will be activated during the event, these being:
- Trade range will be increased to 40 km.
- You'll earn more Candy for catching Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region.
- All Pokémon exclusive to each version will be attracted to Incense during event hours.
As part of the event, a special investigation will be available, which upon completion will allow access to an exclusive story of the event, designed to be completed over a long period of time, where you will embark on a long and challenging journey to discover Shiny Mews.

It should be noted that although the event is aimed at those who buy the ticket to participate, there will also be activities for all players even if they did not acquire it:
- Increased chance of finding Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto in the wild and in raids.
- Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and Mewtwo will return to the Legendary raids.
- Articuno caught during the event will know Hurricane.
- Zapdos caught during the event will know Thunder Shock.
- Moltres caught during the event will know Sky Attack.
- Mewtwo caught during the event will know Psystrike.
- All Trainers will be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research.
- Trade range will be increased to 40 km.

Finally, Niantic has announced through its social networks a new giveaway, by which players can receive a code to exchange for a prize pack containing 50 Poké Balls, six Max Revives, and three Incense.
To participate, all interested players must do the following:
- Post a photo on Twitter of you wearing clothes representing each version of the event using either #PokemonGOTourRed or #PokemonGOTourGreen
- Entries will be received 10-17th February 2021 at 10 am PST.
In addition, all those who wish to participate must be over 18 years old, while a total of 20 winners will be chosen by Niantic.
