Niantic is back with a brand-new exciting Pokémon GO event called Test Your Mettle, focused on Steel-type Pokémon like Celesteela and Kartana. The Test Your Mettle event runs from 16th to 21st September, and during this time frame, Trainers can take advantage of the boosted spawn rates of the featured Pokémon.
Since the Test Your Mettle Event goes live worldwide, the Timed Research challenges have been revealed in Pokémon GO. In addition, there will be a ton of Field Research rewards. Here is everything you need to know about the Pokémon GO Test Your Mettle Field and Timed Research tasks and rewards.
All Timed Research In Pokémon GO Test Your Mettle
There are two steps in the timed research for the Pokémon GO Test Your Mettle Event in 2022. The event will run from 16th September at 10 a.m. local time until 21st September at 8 p.m. local time.

Test Your Mettle Event Research 1/2:
- Catch 25 Steel-type Pokémon for 25 PokéBalls
- Walk 2KM for an Onix* encounter
- Make 15 Nice Throws for 20 Great Balls
- Make 10 Great Throws for 10 Ultra Balls
- Make 5 Curveball Throws for 10 Pinap Berries
- Use 10 Berries to help catch Pokémon for 25 Steelix Mega Energy
Final rewards: Togedemaru encounter, Magnetic Lure Module, and 2,500 XP.
Test Your Mettle Event Research 2/2:
- Catch 25 Steel type Pokémon for 25 Poké Balls
- Make 15 Curveball Throws for 3 Golden Razz Berries
- Evolve 3 Steel-type Pokémon for 20 Great Balls
- Make 5 Excellent Throws for a Beldum* encounter
- Catch 5 different species of Steel-type Pokémon for an Alolan Sandshrew encounter
- Take snapshots of 5 different wild Steel-type Pokémon for 1,000 Stardust
Final rewards: Aron encounter, 25 Aggron Mega Energy, and 50 Aron Candy.
All Field Research Challenges In Pokémon GO Test Your Mettle
During the Test Your Mettle event, Trainers can complete the following Field Research Objectives to earn the respective rewards:
- Catch five Pokémon for a Magnemite* encounter
- Catch five Pokémon for a Nosepass* encounter
- Catch five Pokémon for a Ferroseed* encounter
- Catch ten Pokémon for a Pineco* encounter
- Catch ten Pokémon for a Drilbur encounter
- Catch fifteen Pokémon for a Beldum* encounter
- Evolve two Steel type Pokémon for 50 Steelix Mega Energy
- Evolve two Steel type Pokémon for 50 Scizor Mega Energy
- Power up five Steel type Pokémon for a Togedemaru encounter
