How to get Espeon in Pokémon GO

Every evolution of Eevee is finally available in Pokémon GO. Still, one of the most popular forms continues to be Espeon, arguably the most desired of the Eeveelutions. Therefore, it's only natural that Trainers want to know how to evolve their Eevee into Espeon in Pokémon GO.

Notably, acquiring an Espeon will be impossible if you evolve your Eevee without meeting its unique requirements. Instead, you will be stuck with a gamble between Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. Interestingly, the evolution process for the Psychic-type version of Eevee is similar to that of Umbreon, albeit with subtle differences.

How to evolve Eevee into Espeon - Pokemon Go

There are typically two methods for evolving Eevee into any of its unique evolutions. The first way is by attempting the renaming trick, and the second way is to meet the standard requirements for your target Eeveelution.

Of course, the naming method is the easiest, but Trainers can only use it once per type. Furthermore, since each Eeveelution has a unique name, this method is the least practical.

Method 1: Renaming Eevee

Nevertheless, if you decide you want an Espeon, the name you need to use on your Eevee is Sakura. This name needs to be set before the evolution occurs, or it won't count.

To do this, select your Eevee and tap on the pen icon to set the name. Here you can type the name out and start the evolution. Note: You can't use this trick for the Psychic-type ever again, but other unused types will still work.

Method 2: Meet all requirements

If you have already used the name trick, there is still a guaranteed path to earning Espeon or Umbreon. To do this, designate an Eevee as your buddy. Next, walk at least 10km and earn at least two Eevee candies with that specific Eevee.

With this Pokémon still selected as your buddy, you'll need to wait until it's daytime before evolving it. Attempting to evolve at night will give you an Umbreon. With all of the requirements met, you can select the evolution for 25 Eevee candies.

How good is Espeon Pokémon GO?

Many Psychic-type Pokémon in the game are fantastic options in raids and GO Battle League matches. Eeveelutions have been known to serve as powerful options in your team, boasting high CP for minimal candy. In other words, players lacking good Pokémon can rely on Eeveelutions to win their battles.

While Espeon may be a good supplement for a raid, the GO Battle League matches won't work as well. Even in the Great League, this Psychic-type falls short in terms of power, and its set of attacks doesn't hold up well. However, having an Espeon in your collection is merit enough.
