When the July blog post for 2022 was released for Pokémon GO, a Sixth Anniversary Event was confirmed but many of the details were still left out. However, Niantic released a separate post so that all Trainers know the wild spawns and research encounters that will be part of the upcoming event.
The main featured Pokémon for the Pokémon GO Anniversary Event will be Charizard with a hat, along with its other forms. This is to celebrate the #006 entry in the PokéDex along with the Sixth Anniversary. But there are plenty of other Pokémon to catch during the event, and many of them are starters from other Generations.
All wild spawns and encounters in the Pokémon GO Anniversary Event
In most of the other Pokémon GO events, wild spawns and research encounters are typically par for par. There is still some overlap in the Sixth Anniversary Event, but the field research encounters have far more start options to catch than what the wild spawns will offer.

The wild spawns are far more focused on the Kanto starters and other Kanto-based Pokémon. Generation VI starters will also appear in the wild, but those are the only starters that will accompany the original three in the wild alone. All of the wild spawns and research encounters are listed below.
All Pokémon GO Anniversary Event wild spawns
- Bulbasaur
- Party Hat Charmander
- Squirtle
- Cake Costume Pikachu

Earning all of these start Pokémon during the event will be far more complicated than the wild spawns because of their ties to the research. On top of spinning stops for the right challenges, all you can do is hope that you get the encounter that you want.
Pokémon GO Anniversary Event start date and time
Once the TCG Crossover Event comes to a close, there will be almost a week of downtime in Pokémon GO. But those quiet days won't last long as Trainers prepare for the Sixth Anniversary Event that kicks off all of the July activities.
The event will begin on Wednesday, July 6 at 10 am local time. Trainers will have plenty of time to participate until July 12 at 8 pm local time. This may also usher in the Battle Weekend details for July, but that will take place halfway through the event. Until then, catch as many starters as you can, while you can.
