How to catch Castform in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have returned many Generation III Pokémon but none are more unique than Castform. This cloud Pokémon still remains one of the most niche mons in the entire franchise. Castform has the ability to transform based on the weather, making it an interesting presence in a battle. 

However, catching it in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has proven a little difficult for some players. The process to encounter it relies on patience and luck, two things that some Pokémon players don’t possess a lot of. 

Below, players can see exactly how to go about catching Castform in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. 

Catching Castform in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

To start, you will need to have acquired the National Dex, which you can receive after seeing all 150 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Dex. You’ll also have to beat the Pokémon League, which means getting past Champion Cynthia. 

With that out of the way, you want to make your way to the Trophy Garden, which can be found in the back of the Pokémon Mansion south of Hearthome City. Inside the Pokémon Mansion, you can take a right turn down the hallway and enter the first room you see. The room has Mr Backlot in it, the owner of the mansion. 

After some dialogue, he will tell you a specific Pokémon that he saw in the Trophy Garden, which is located outback. If that Pokémon he mentions is Castform, then you can go into the garden and encounter it by walking in the grass. If he doesn’t say Castform, then you’ll have to wait 24 hours and come back to talk to him.

You need to repeat this process as many times as necessary until he tells you that he saw Castform in the garden. There are 16 specific Pokémon, like Jigglypuff, that Mr Backlot can mention, so this process might take some time.
