Burmy is one of the trickier Pokémon to figure out in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. On the one hand, its encounter rate is lower than other Pokémon, making players struggle to add it to their Pokédex or add it to their team.
On the other hand, it has a strange evolution method that requires players to catch two Burmy to add their evolutions to their Pokédex.
With the evolution of Burmy aside, you need to know where to even find the Bug-type Pokémon first before worrying about evolving it. Fortunately, Burmy is found in some early regions of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
However, the main problem that you will have with catching the small bug is getting lucky enough to find one. Below, you can see exactly where to find and catch Burmy in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
How to catch Burmy in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
If you’re starting out in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, then you’re in luck. Burmy can be found in each of the first three regions you will come across in Hisui.
The Bug-type can be caught in the tall grass of Obsidian Fieldlands, Crimson Mirelands and Cobalt Highlands. Indeed, these regions are where players can catch the three Sinnoh starters, so be on the lookout for those as well.
When trying to capture Burmy in these locations, you might have to look around or re-enter the areas quite a bit before seeing it. Burmy has a lower encounter rate, so patience is key when finding it in the grass. However, it might be worth it to throw a berry its way to distract it when you encounter one.
While it’s eating the berry, sneak up behind the Bug-type, get a Poké Ball and throw it when you’re close enough. With enough luck, you’ll catch it on the first try. If you don’t, then keep throwing balls. Note that Burmy tends to run away, though, so this might take a few tries to add it to your party.
It might also be worth sticking around these areas to find a male and female Burmy, though. Interestingly, Burmy evolves into two different Pokémon depending on gender.
So, you will have to catch both genders if you want to complete your Pokédex in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
