As a part of the latest Bug Out! Collection Challenge in Pokémon GO, Trainers will need to get a hold of both Silcoon and Cascoon. Trading for them won't count as task completion and getting the evolution you need can get confusing when dealing with Wurmple to any degree.
To get the full Collection Challenge completion in the Bug Out! event, you'll need to earn a Cascoon and a Silcoon evolution yourself. But if you've attempted to evolve a Wurmple at all in Pokémon GO, you know that the evolution option has a question mark. This guide will outline everything you need to know about evolving the Worm Pokémon.
How to evolve Wurmple into Cascoon or Silcoon in Pokémon GO
The first step to getting a Cascoon or a Silcoon in Pokémon GO is having enough Wurmple Candy on hand. Because of the complicated nature of the Bug-type's evolution, the second form only requires 12 Candy in total. Most Pokémon with three forms will require 25 Candy just to evolve once.
With those 12 Candy for Wurmple, you'll tap the evolve option just like any other Pokémon in the game. However, it has a question mark instead of an outline for the second form. This is because the process is essentially a gamble for whether a Silcoon or a Cascoon appears.

Some Pokémon will have a name trick or secondary parameter that allows Trainers to decide which evolution branch they follow. In Wurmple's case, it's a 50/50 shot for which one appears. Of course, this complicates the Collection Challenge, and if you're unlucky, you can end up having to do a handful of evolutions.
The good news is that the evolution is super cheap. Even the forms after Cascoon and Silconn are cheap at only 50 Wurmple Candies for a final evolution. Most third forms in the game will call for 100 Candy at the very least.
After you obtain a Cascoon or a Silcoon, they will both have a defined third form. Cascoon will evolve into Dustox and Silcoon will evolve into Beautifly. If you don't have them yet, this week is a great time to add both of the Bug-types to your Pokédex.
For Trainers that already have both forms, you won't need to worry about getting Dustox or Beautifly for the Bug Out! Collection Challenge. Cascoon and Silcoon are the only requirements, and there are no third forms on the list for the Pokémon GO event.
