August 2022 in Pokémon GO brings a whole new month of events, including the end of the Season of GO and five new Spotlight Hours along with it. The whole list of Spotlights has already been outlined, and some of them have a shiny form that Trainers have a chance of catching.
The new timelines are probably clockwork for Trainers that have been involved in the game for a long time. Regardless, it helps to know the order of Spotlights and the bonuses each day will bring to the table. Our guide will outline the entire month of August 2022.
Every Spotlight Hour In Pokémon GO August 2022
The Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour will always take place on a Tuesday night. In the same vein, raid hours always go live at the same time the next day. Both of these events will start at 6 pm local time on their respective days.

How To Catch Galarian Zapdos, Articuno, And Moltres In Pokémon GO
Most months have about four Spotlight Hours that vary in picks depending on the themes that are planned. August 2022 has five hours that lineup perfectly for Trainers, and there will be three different opportunities to catch a shiny this month.
- Hisuian Voltorb - August 2 at 6 pm local time: 2x Stardust for catching Pokémon
- Nidoran (female) - August 9 at 6 pm local time2x XP for catching Pokémon. (Shiny)
- Joltik - August 16 at 6 pm local time: 2x Candy for catching Pokémon
- Nidoran (male) - August 23 at 6 pm local time: 2x Candy for transferring Pokémon. (Shiny)
- Pidove - August 30 at 6 pm local time: 2x XP for evolving Pokémon. (Shiny)
On the full list, the three shiny Pokémon this month are Pidove and both forms of Nidoran. Joltik and Hisuian Voltorb do not have shiny forms yet, so those are best used for Candy or the hour bonus from that night.
Another aspect of the Spotlight Hour to keep in mind is that the shiny spawn rate is not any higher than a typical day. Unlike Community Days, which pump up the encounter rate of a shiny Pokémon, spotlights are much tougher to get something good in. The usual spawn rate for a shiny is 1 out of every 500 encounters.
To increase your odds of a rare catch, you can use a Lure Module or an Incense Lure to ensure that constant spawns can happen. Saving the new Daily Adventure Incense is a good idea for Spotlight Hour because it's free and guaranteed.
