Niantic will launch the next in-game event for Pokémon GO, Valentine's Day, globally this month. Celebrating all things love, flowers, and heart shapes, this welcomes new and familiar Pokémon appearing more frequently in various activities.
This includes the new themed Field Research, in which Trainers can take on tasks to complete and earn their respective rewards. We've detailed all the Field Research tasks and rewards for the upcoming Valentine's Day event for Pokémon GO.

Pokémon GO Valentine's Day Field Research Tasks & Rewards
As February is the month of love, the upcoming Valentine's Day aims to echo that theme with plenty of Gift-giving and spending time with our Buddy Pokémon. There are also various Pokémon who will appear in the wild and a new Shiny debut for Frillish, who will appear in wild encounters and Egg hatches.
Likewise, Frillish and many other Pokémon can be encountered as rewards when completing the event-themed Field Research tasks. These tasks, which have yet to be announced, could see Trainers doing myriad tasks revolving around catching, evolving, transferring, and gifting Pokémon and other items.
Notable Pokémon source Leek Duck will provide details on the Field Research tasks as we'll update this guide with the latest news once it becomes available. What has been confirmed is the Pokémon, possibly in their Shiny forms*. you can receive as reward encounters for completing the Field Research for the Valentine's Day event detailed below:
- Earn three Hearts with your Buddy Pokémon: Eevee*, Pikachu* or Ralts* Encounter
- Earn ten Hearts with your Buddy Pokémon: Frillish (Female)*or Frillish (Male)* Encounter
- Make five consecutive Great Curveball throws: Spinda with Heart Pattern* Encounter
- Open five Gifts: Combee* or Morelull Encounter
- Send three Gifts with a sticker included for each: Luvdisc* Encounter
- Spin five PokéStops or Gyms: Hippopotas or Litleo* Encounter
- Spin ten PokéStops or Gyms: Alomomola, Audinoor Chancey* Encounter
You can collect the Field Research tasks by spinning the Photo Discs at the closest PokéStops on your Map View. You can complete a maximum of four Research tasks at a time as you'll collect stamps, contributing to your progress in unlocking a Research Breakthrough.
The current Research Breakthrough rotation features Bagon, Deino, Delibrid, Natural Form Furfrou, Galarian Mr. Mime, and Goomy. The Valentine's Day event starts on 8th February 2023 at 10 am local time and ends on 14th February 2023 at 8 pm local time.
