Pokémon GO's Season of Mythical Wishes sees returning Legendary, Mythical, and Ice-type Pokémon reappearing in multiple events over the next three months. These include the recent Mythic Blade and the current Christmas-themed Winter Holiday, which can be encountered during wild and raid encounters.
Cobalion is one of the many returning Pokémon for the current season and will be featured in Raids, but can we expect to encounter a Shiny Cobalion during Pokémon GO's Winter Holiday event?
Is There A Shiny Cobalion In Pokémon GO?
Trainers participating in the festive activities during the Winter holiday event will have their wishes come true because there is a chance a Shiny Cobalion can be encountered in-game. The Legendary Steel/Fighting-type Pokémon returns to the game for this event as an upcoming Raid boss and will appear across multiple events this December.

You can encounter Cobalion or possibly its Shiny form when facing the Legendary Pokémon in five-star raids for the Winter Holiday Part 1 event, available until 23rd December 2022 at 10 am local time. Should you be lucky to catch Cobalion during this event, it will know the featured attack, Sacred Sword, which can be effective in Trainer, Gym, and Raid battles.
Additionally, Cobalion will be featured in an upcoming Raid Hour event scheduled to take place soon in Pokémon GO. According to Niantic, this Raid Hour event is slated to occur on 21st December 2022 for an hour between 6 pm and 7 pm local time, with various event bonuses likely available.
Catching this Legendary Steel/Fighting-type Pokémon will be challenging to overcome, but it's possible with the best counters like Fire-type Pokémon, including Mega Charizard, Houndoom, and Blaziken. Additionally, Fighting-type Pokémon, like Lucario and Machamp, or Mewtwo, can work well to fend off Cobalion's attacks.
You'll want to utilize Premier Balls to catch the Legendary Steel/Fighting-type Pokémon, for which a limited surplus will be available following the Raid encounter. Should you have Premier Balls in your Inventory, these would be best used to catch Cobalion, and we recommend using Curveball Throws to maximize the chances of getting a Cobalion.
Lastly, trying to catch the Pokémon while it's moving can see you waste Premier Balls, so monitor its moves and find the right opportunity to catch it. You can also use a Razz Berry or Golden Razz Berry to make catching Cobalion much more straightforward and ensure you have enough Razz Berry, Golden Razz Berry, Max Potions, and Max Revives in your bag.
