Pokémon GO Mysterious Masks – All Special Research Challenges & Rewards

Pokémon GO Trainers can enjoy the plethora of content available during the latest in-person event, Safari Zone: Taipei. While the festivities are currently underway, in-game, the Halloween event is still ongoing with Raids, Wild Encounters, and other spooky activities on hand.

There are various Research tasks to complete for rewards; however, a recurring story questline returns to the game, with a spotlight on a Ghost-type Pokémon. Here’s everything about the Mysterious Special Research, including tasks and rewards for Pokémon GO’s Halloween event.

All Pokémon GO Mysterious Masks Special Research Challenges & Rewards

Pokémon GO’s Halloween event brings scary encounters with wild Ghost-type Pokémon and, for a limited time, event-exclusive Timed Research challenges to complete. Moreover, Trainers will encounter Yamask and its Galarian variant through the Yamask Timed Research.

This Halloween, Yamask will be featured in its Special Research story quest called Mysterious Masks. The Ghost-type Pokémon appeared in the A Spooky Message Unmasked Special Research during 2020’s Halloween event, granting Trainers a chance to catch Galarian Yamask.

Since Mysterious Masks doesn’t have a set deadline by which all its tasks are required to be completed, it needs to be claimed before the game’s November content launches. As a result, Trainers have until 1st November 2022 at 10 am local time to claim and complete the Research story quest to earn its rewards.

Mysterious Masks Special Research (1/4)

• Catch 40 Ghost-type Pokémon: Stardust x1313
• Make nine Curveball Throws: Yamask encounter
• Make 49 Nice Throws: Ultra Ball x9

Mysterious Masks Special Research (2/4)

• Catch 40 Ghost-type Pokémon: Stardust x1313
• Earn nine hearts with the buddy Pokémon: Yamask encounter
• Forward 13 gifts to friends: Great Ball x40

Mysterious Masks Special Research (3/4)

• Catch 40 Ghost-type Pokémon: Stardust x1313
• Catch nine various Ghost-type Pokémon species: Yamask encounter
• Use 49 Berries to assist in catching Pokémon: Poké Ball x49

Mysterious Masks Special Research (4/4)

• Claim Reward!: 49 XP
• Claim Reward!: 490 XP
• Claim Reward!: 4,900 XP

After completing each page for the Mysterious Masks Special Research, there are additional rewards to be claimed. For example, completing pages one to three will award Trainers with 4,900 XP, 490 Stardust, and encounters with Galarian Yamask.

In contrast, the final page awards Trainers with 490 Stardust, 49 Yamask Candy, and a Galarian Yamask encounter. Yamask and Galarian Yamask are featured in one-star Raids for the Halloween event, with their Shiny forms possibly appearing and can be obtained from hatching 7km Eggs with the chance of being a Shiny.
