Trainers can start the New Year with another Pokémon GO Community Day event in January. Alongside the Community Day Classic event happening later this month, Trainers will be able to encounter Chespin and Larvitar more frequently in wild encounters. The Spiny Nut Pokémon may have its Shiny form appearing in wild encounters or as a reward for the event’s Field Research. We've detailed all Field Research tasks and rewards available to claim for Pokémon GO’s Chespin Community Day.
Pokémon GO Chespin Community Day Field Research Tasks
Pokémon GO’s first Community Day event for 2023 will feature the Grass-type Pokémon, Chespin, which begins on 7th January 2023 between 2 pm and 5 pm local time. In addition to the paid event-exclusive Special Research Quality Quills made available to all Trainers, free Field Research tasks will be added exclusively for the event.
As you’ll need to spin the PokéStops to collect the Field Research tasks during the event, complete the tasks before collecting its rewards. This can be achieved by tapping the binoculars icon to view all your available Field Research, monitor its progress, and collect rewards.
Let’s look at the Field Research tasks and the rewards you can claim for the Chespin Community Day event in Pokémon GO, according to a notable source, Leek Duck:
- Catch three Chespin:
- Great Ball x5
- Ultra Ball x2
- Pinap Berry x2
- Stardust x500
- Chespin Encounter*
As an encounter with the Grass-type Pokémon is one of its rewards, there’s a chance you may encounter a Shiny Chespin*, which you could add to your Pokédex once caught. If you catch enough Chespin, you can earn Chespin Candy, which is needed to evolve Chespin to Quilladin and Chesnaught.
If you evolve Quilladin to Chesnaught during or in the five hours after the event, it will learn a Charged Attack, Frenzy Plant. This move will have a Power stat of 100 for Trainers, Gyms, and Raid Battles if you bring out Chesnaught.
Additionally, catching Chespin and other Pokémon during the Community Day event can increase your Candy rate by double for catching Pokémon. Should you have a Trainer Level of 31 and higher, you may receive double Candy XL for catching Pokémon.
To further your chances of catching Chespin, Lure Modules and Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) will be activated for three hours during the event. You can only activate Lure Modules at PokéStops, including the Mossy Lure Module, which attracts Bug, Grass, and Poison-type Pokémon and allows you to evolve Chespin if the option is made available.
