Halloween may be around the corner as players continue decorating their homes with items available from the Spooky Decor Item Set in Palia. Beyond Halloween, there are plenty of reasons to enjoy the Fall season, with the Obstacle Course fully accessible and a few more additions arriving soon.
Developer Singularity 6 detailed in a recent Developer Update that a new type of mining item, Starstones, is currently in development and to be released soon with a new in-game mechanic. We've consulted the stars to explain everything we know about Starstones, including how they work and where to get them in Palia.
What Are Starstones In Palia?
Developer Singularity 6 announced in the September 2023 Developer Update that they've been working on a new item to be introduced in a future update. The item in question, Starstones, are lootable drops that players can acquire through mining various rocks and nodes, including clay, and are associated with an in-game astrology mechanic called Star Paths.
Starstones received yet another update in the October 2023 Developer Update on how Starstones will influence their Star Path, which too will be coming to the game. As for how players can obtain Starstones, the developer stated that they "will be able to find these Starstones in various rarities in random drops while mining."
There are ten confirmed Starstones that are available to mine from rocks and nodes in Palia, which have different rarities that are specified by the developer:
- Ruby (Legendary / Extremely Rare)
- Amethyst (Epic / Very Rare)
- Emerald (Epic / Very Rare)
- Jasper (Epic / Very Rare)
- Sapphire (Epic / Very Rare)
- Aquamarine (Rare)
- Citrine (Rare)
- Onyx (Rare)
- Garnet (Uncommon)
- Quartz (Uncommon)
How To Get Starstones In Palia?
While Starstones are primarily obtained through mining nodes throughout Kilima Village and Bahari Bay, they will share popular node spawning locations as such. Their mined locations and drop rate are likely influenced based on their rarities, with the Ruby being the most challenging Starstone drop while Citrine, Garnet, Onyx, and Quartz are much easier to mine.
It's confirmed that most of these Starstones can be mined inside mining caves in Bahari Bay, as the lower rarity Starstones are to be discovered from rocks, clay, and copper nodes in Kilima Village. Once players have acquired them, they can use the Starstones by selling them from the Shipping Box on their Housing plot, or they can be used as a gift for friends, Community members, and Villagers whose Star Paths are aligned with the corresponding Starstone.
Palia is currently available in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is slated to release on the Nintendo Switch, releasing Holiday Season 2023.
