Interactions with furniture have been a feature many players have requested since Palia’s Open Beta release, and now it’s possible to sit on furniture. Appropriately called “SitTech,” sitting on various benches, chairs, and couches can be done in-game, but there are some exceptions for specific furniture pieces.
Nevertheless, entertaining friends during dinner parties or taking a break from gardening can be achieved as long as a bench, chair, or couch is nearby. Before attempting to play a game of Musical Chairs, learn how to interact and sit on various benches, chairs, and couches and which furniture is exempt from this in this guide for Palia.
How To Interact & Sit On Chairs And Couches In Palia?
The recent patch update added a long-awaited Quality-of-Life (QoL) adjustment involving a specific group of furniture in Palia. Currently, players can place Star-Quality dishes, including Ruined Food, as decor items throughout their homes, and they can also sit on specific furniture placed within their homes.
This QoL update has been one of the most requested features by players when interacting with various chairs and couches crafted or purchased in-game. According to the patch notes, the “SitTech” has finally been enabled as players can interact and sit on various benches, chairs, and couches, but not all of them can be interacted with based on playtesting.
To interact with a bench, chair, or couch, move as close to it as possible and wait for a prompt to appear on screen. This prompt will be labeled “Sit,” which, when hitting the F key, will allow them to sit on the intended bench, chair, or couch, whether it’s placed on their Housing plot or their Friends.
While the developer has stated that “various chairs and couches” placed on their housing plot can be sat on, we’ve found that we couldn’t sit on the Log Cabin Small Bench and other random benches, chairs, and couches throughout Kilima Village and Bahari Bay. Nevertheless, players can sit on different couches, benches, and chairs from various Furnishing sets and enjoy time passing by or listening to music playing on Kenyatta’s Record Player.
But it doesn’t stop there as players can also sit on couches, benches, and chairs when visiting their Friends’ Housing plots, and the same will be true for the friends who visit their Housing plots. It’s unclear when the “SitTech” will be extended to the benches, chairs, and couches, especially the benches found in the town square of Kilima Village, but we could anticipate this in the next few patch updates.
Palia is currently available via the Epic Games Store and in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is now available to download for Nintendo Switch as of 14th December 2023.
