Developer Singularity 6 has confirmed that the v0.186 Season of Splendor update marks the conclusion of the Prologue questline for their cozy MMO Palia. This saw four more quests added to the game, and have updated the Strange Things Afoot quest for Palians to progress to gain more information on what may come when the Elderwood Adventure Zone launches in 2025.

The Rooted in Place is the finale of the Prologue questline as Palians will travel to the Temple of the Roots hoping to gain more insight into the intruder and the Cosmos Protocol from The Gardener. Will Palians finally get the answers they seek is what will be addressed in this deep-rooted guide, which lists all the objectives and includes a walkthrough for the Rooted in Place quest for Palia.

Palia Rooted In Place Quest Objectives List

After completing the Up in the Air quest, Palians can proceed to start the Rooted in Place quest by meeting with Subira inside the Temple of the Roots. This temple is located northwest of the Ancient Aqueduct, which becomes unlocked once the Eye of the Storm quest has been completed.

They can follow the corresponding questline until they explore the temple during the Secret Depths quest. For the Rooted in Place quest, Subira believes the Gardener may hold some clues or answers about the intruder who has disengaged the Cosmos Protocol and who happens to be familiar with using Flow and runestones.

Below, we have listed all the objectives for the Rooted in Place quest and have provided a detailed walkthrough to help Palians complete this quest for Palia:

  • Enter the Temple of the Roots
  • Speak to Subira in the Temple of the Roots
    • Ask the Gardener about the intruder
  • Place the Gardener's Hub in Bahari Bay
    • Check-in with Subira (optional)
  • Speak to the Gardener in Bahari Bay
  • Place the Gardener's Hub in the Gales
    • Speak to the Gardener in the Gales
  • Place the Gardener's Hub in Kilima Village
    • Speak with The Gardener in Kilima
  • Return the Gardener's Hub to him
  • Regroup with Subira

How To Complete The Rooted In Place Quest In Palia?

Once they've spoken to Subira, break down the wall using the pickaxe to use the Flowgate to reach the Hub, which they can select the rightmost Flowgate to reach the Gardener's domain. After teleporting to the location, they can speak to Subira and then interact with the console to speak directly to the Gardener.

The Gardener appears dismissive towards Palians as they attempt to inquire about the intruder. Occupied with "watching the shrubs in the Atrium grow," the Gardener issues a trade for which they'll exchange information about the intruder by placing a Hub to connect to the Flow network to continue observing the world.

They'll provide some clues on where the Hub should be placed as they wish to see how much the world "has changed" by placing it "somewhere high up, with a view of the area," which includes the Ancient Aqueduct. Palians will receive the Gardener's Hub, which they can briefly talk to Subira about before heading out into Bahari Bay for the first Hub location.

The first location, which must be "somewhere high up, with a view of the area," is on the cliff east of the Pulsewater Plains Stable Board and is across from The Old Lighthouse. Place the Hub down before communicating with the Gardener through the Hub as they described the changes in this area before giving them the next clue to where the Hub must be placed.

Mentioned "The Silverwing Labs" as the clue, they can head to the Windy Ruins either on foot or using the Pulsewater Plains Stable Board to travel to the Beachcomber Cove Stable Board and use the air vent nearby. Enter the Temple of the Gales and use the large air vent to reach the first island before using the air vent by the large Silverwing nest and glide across to the main island.

Head towards the temple on the main island; however, as they approach the temple, make a left turn by the large rock, wrap around it, and climb onto the rocks here to reach the top. They can spot a small floating platform with a tall structure, which they can glide towards and place the Hub at the highlighted location before speaking to the Gardener again.

Before the conversation ends, the Gardener gives them a clue to the final location, asking Palians to place the Hub at the university, which Einar calls Kilima Village. Exit the Temple of the Gales, travel to the Beachcomber Cove Stable Board, and then to the Central Stables in Kilima Village.

Once they arrive in Kilima Village, locate the highlighted spot north of the Stable Board, slightly west of City Hall, and place the Hub to communicate with the Gardener again. As they're observing the behavior of the villagers, which they can select the dialogue options that best suit them, they can bring the Hub back to them at the Temple of the Roots by using the Flowgates to reach the Gardener's domain.

Interact with the console for the last time, thanking them for doing this task to observe the world better; they'll detail that the intruder is "heavily cloaked" and bypassed their "security measures using Flow." Attempting to disengage the Cosmos Protocol from the console, they didn't have permission from the Gardener to "override the last lock," so they inquired for more information on the intruder and what the Cosmos Protocol was.

Proceeding to inquire what happened next, the Gardener explained tried to override the protocols by breaking through its "Flowwalls" but failed as the intruder sensed they were being followed and left using the backdoors. Revealing to Palians that the task they gave them allowed the Gardener to upgrade their "Flowwalls" to better protect themselves from future attempts, the conversation ends, and they can speak to Subira, passing all the information they've learned to her.

Subira explains her disappointment in being unable to apprehend the intruder; however, she has a few ideas on what to do next. She shockingly reveals that on her list of suspects, she alleges that Tamala may be the intruder due to her not being from Kilima Village or spending enough time there, but she is well-acquainted with using Flow and can carve runestones while remaining quiet and away from the gaze of The Order.

The only problem Subira faces is that she needs concrete evidence, so she will continue the investigation alone to avoid Tamala being spooked and promises to update them with more information. This concludes the Rooted in Place quest, marking the end of the Prologue questline for Palia, in which they'll receive 15 Renown, increased Friendship with Subira, and the Ancient Explorer Nameplate as rewards.
