We’re a few months into the Open Beta release of Palia and with numerous patch updates released, which added new in-game content and unique mechanics. As Starstones were included in the recent patch update, players have been mining their way across Kilima Village and Bahari Bay mining nodes and obtaining the resources.
In the case of getting rare resources like Gold and Pallium and extremely rare Starstones like Amethyst and Ruby, it may be wise to equip an Ore Compass to help track these nodes. If players have yet to acquire this device, we’ve detailed how to get and use the Ore Compass device in Palia.
Where To Find The Ore Compass In Palia?
During your explorations of Kilima Village and Bahari Bay, players will encounter rocks and nodes of all shapes and sizes in caves or the grassy plains. When mining these nodes, they often contain valuable resources like ores that can help players craft a selection of furniture pieces, tools, and more.
Rare ores like Gold and Pallium can be extremely difficult to find, mainly as they're scattered across Bahari Bay and have already been mined. To reach these ores and, more importantly, the Starstones found within these nodes, they can obtain the Ore Compass device, which can be used to track down rare nodes for 15 minutes.
However, they are to reach Mining Level 8 before the blueprint for the Ore Compass will be available to purchase for 2,500 Gold from Hodari's Mining Guild Store. Once purchased, return to the Housing plot where they'll need to craft one Ore Compass, which requires five Stone Bricks, one Iron Bar, and one Silver Bar before it's added to the Inventory.
How To Use The Ore Compass In Palia?
As mentioned briefly, the Ore Compass is used to track rare nodes containing Gold and Pallium ores and the chance of these nodes dropping rare and higher Starstones like Amethyst and Ruby. The Ore Compass will be highly beneficial for this purpose, especially as tracking these nodes can lead players directly to the Starstones.
To use the Ore Compass, we suggest making their way to any popular mining spot that may house nodes containing Gold and Pallium, like the Flooded Fortress, Pavel Mines, and Proudhorn Pass. Then, navigate to their Inventory and locate the Ore Compass before right-clicking on the item to use it for which the nodes will be highlighted, making it easier to mine and collect resources, ores, and Starstones.
Palia is currently available via the Epic Games Store and in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is now available to download for Nintendo Switch as of 14th December 2023.
