The open fields of Bahari Bay are roaring with activity as a new creature species, the Muujin, has arrived in Palia. Previously teased in October 2023’s Developer Update, the Muujin are described as “tree-dwelling critters have traveled a long way from the woods up north,” and it seems a particular phenomenon is the cause of their migration.
With the appearance of Flow Tree Groves in Bahari Bay, the Muujin are tricky to track and hunt but possible. We’ve compiled all vital information on these furry creatures, including where to find them, their loot drops, and some hunting tips to become a Muujin Master in Palia.
How To Find And Hunt The Muujin Creature In Palia?
The Muujin is a new type of huntable creature that was added to the game in the 0.173 patch update and can be found in the wild. When spotted, the Muujin can be seen alone or in a herd casually walking the area in which they typically spawn, but do approach them with caution as they will try to escape.
Update: The Muujin have declared themselves the hide-and-seek champions of Bahari Bay. 👀 Keep those eyes peeled - they love a good tree! 🌳#Palia#PlayPalia#CozyGames#CozyMMOpic.twitter.com/rFhHFeu2Zf

Should this happen, the Muujin would launch themselves into the nearest Heartwood tree, which, when chopped down, would be released from the tree and would run to the next one. The reason for the Muujin jumping into a tree is to reset its HP when hit with arrows and will continue to do so until they’re successfully felled.
As for finding these jumpy creatures, the Muujin can be found in the areas of The Outskirts and Thorny Thicket, which also applies to the Banded Muujin, a type of Muujin species. However, if a regular Muujin jumps into a Flow Tree, chop the tree down for a Bluebristle Muujin to jump out instead.
One thing to note is that their HP increases depending on the type of Muujin species discovered and the type of arrows used. We advise bringing along some Fine Arrows, but the first arrow fired should be a Slowdown Arrow before hitting the Muujin with the Fine Arrow to ensure the creature has been felled.
Once hunted, the Muujin will have several loot drops that players can collect that were added to the game in the v0.173 patch update. The loot that the Muujin drops include Muujin Mane, Muujin Meat, Banded Muujin Mane, and Bluebristle Muujin Mane, for which the mane can be used similarly to fur in crafting furniture and tools.
The meat, as expected, can be utilized in various dishes, and it’s one of the required ingredients for the Muujin Bahari dish. Although not stated, players can add chopped Muujin to their Congee dish, and any other ingredient can also be added based on players’ preference.
Lastly, successfully hunting Muujin can fast-track their progress in obtaining two new Accomplishments added in the aforementioned patch update. The Mane of the Hour Accomplishment is unlocked for looting a Star-Quality Bluebristle Muujin Mane, and the Muujin Hunter is earned by hunting all three Muujin species.
Palia is currently available via the Epic Games Store and in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is now available to download for Nintendo Switch as of 14th December 2023.
