The world of Palia contains a vast array of valuable ingredients and resources that can be collected and mined in-game. The latter can be achieved when using the Mining Skill during exploration, quests, and tasks, which lets players earn XP to level it up.
Doing so allows items and crafter blueprints to become available from the Mining Guild Store, but which are better suited for efficiency and time? We’ve consulted with the Guild Master, Hodari, to determine the best tools and crafters to utilize with the Mining Skill in Palia.

The Best Mining Tools And Crafters To Own In Palia
Headed up by Bahari Bay's resident miner Hodari, the Mining Skill allows players to harvest precious ores and other valuable resources from nodes throughout Kilima Village and Bahari Bay. Using the right tools when using this Skill, they can level up this Skill by earning XP to unlock blueprints for higher grade tools and crafters for processing resources mined.
Somewhat similar to the Gardening Skill, there are a handful of tools and crafters that will make players' time mining and processing much more efficient and get those processed items into their inventory faster for crafting. For this list specifically, we'll be excluding the Pick and ore bars, which the latter are used for crafting Furnishings, crafters, and equipment in-game.
We're looking at tools and crafters that will make mining and crafting more efficient and significantly rewarding during the early, mid, and late game for players in Palia, so let's have a look:
Basic And Heavy Smelters
We've listed both the Basic and Heavy Smelters on our list, as both are extremely valuable on their own merits. While the Basic Smelter recipe will be available early in-game after reaching Mining Skill Level 2 and obtaining a Crafting Licence from the cash register at City Hall, it can be used to smelt ores into bars, which in turn are used for crafting Furnishings, equipment, and crafters.
The latter is true when crafting the Heavy Smelter, which requires a Basic Smelter, other resources, and a Crafting Licence if they already have another Basic Smelter placed on the Housing plot. The blueprint for the Heavy Smelter can also be acquired from the Mining Guild Store for 1,000 Gold, which we've used to process Palium ores much faster when placed into the Hopper.
Ore Compass
It's not necessarily an item to have once players have familiarised themselves with the multiple biomes to be discovered in Kilima Village and Bahari Bay, but they are ideal for new players when starting their adventures. The Ore Compass is a craftable item, which can also be received as a reward, which activates and tracks locations of Rare and Epic quality resources, like Palium nodes and certain Starstones.
Players are to reach Mining Skill Level 8 for the blueprint to be purchased from Hodari's Mining Guild Store for 2,500 Gold, and they can craft the item from the Worktable. Additionally, they can buy the item from the same store for 50 Mining Skill Medals each, activate it from the Inventory menu once in the open world, and begin mining.
Repair Kits
Repair Kits are invaluable items primarily used for repairing tools before they downgrade to the next lowest quality until Standard quality. These kits have different items when crafting them at the Worktable as they'll be unlocked by default when starting their adventures in-game, so players won't have to spend Gold to acquire the blueprints.
All that players require is the proper resources needed to craft as many Repair Kits as possible, including Sapwood planks, Copper, Iron, and Palium Bars. These kits are money-saving items to have for repairing tools as when interacting with a Repair station; they will ask to repair tools with Gold or Repair Kits, which we advise using the kits instead.
Repair Station
Undoubtedly, the Repair Station is an overlooked station that players should have on their Housing plot once they've leveled up their Mining Skill to Level 4. Granted, there are two Repair Stations to be found at Sifuu's Forge and beside the Bahari Bay Central Stables Fast Travel Board, but if they downgraded their tools while working on their plot, they'd have to leave and visit one in the world for repairs.
As mentioned before, interacting with the Repair Station will allow players to repair one or all tools equipped with the Tool Wheel using Gold or Repair Kits, which we recommend the latter. The blueprint for the Repair Station can be acquired from Hodari's Mining Guild Store for 500 Gold before crafting at the Worktable and placed on their Housing plot to use before their tools wear down.
Palia is currently available via the Epic Games Store and in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is now available to download for Nintendo Switch as of 14th December 2023.
