Positioned as the village’s “fashion icon,” the local tailor, Jel, has an excellent eye for trends and designing beautiful garments that have people flocking to his shop all over Kilima Village and Bahari Bay. His Tailor Shop is also where players can acquire new Outfits and Glider Skins; however, he seems to be caught in a situation in his Friendship quest, An Existential Conundrum.

Jel needs some advice to decide whether a dress he’s designing for Kenyatta should reflect what her mother, Eshe, wants her to wear or what Kenyatta would love to wear. Before Jel makes a fashion faux pas, here’s how players can complete the An Existential Conundrum quest using the quest objectives detailed below for Palia.

Palia An Existential Conundrum Friendship Quest Objectives List

An Existential Conundrum is Jel’s Friendship Level 2 quest, where he has been tasked with designing Kenyatta’s dress for the Bahari Ball. This quest has two variations depending on whether you select two unique dialogue options to determine who players will speak to next.

As Eshe is paying for the dress to be made, but Kenyatta is the one wearing it, players are to help Jel with this terrible problem and choose the path that provides the best possible outcome. Before players feel guilty about which option to choose, we’ll be going over the quest objectives for the An Existential Conundrum Friendship quest in Palia:

• Talk to Jel
• Talk to Eshe (Air option)
• Talk to Kenyatta (Water option)
  • Return to Jel

How To Complete The An Existential Conundrum Friendship Quest In Palia?

As previously mentioned, players will get to choose a path that will undoubtedly please Eshe or Kenyatta and disappoint the other Villager. With two dialogue options to choose from, players can decide which option would help Jel get out of this precarious position he’s in.

Players can either speak to Eshe or Kenyatta to progress with the quest, as selecting the “Listen to the client” option will have them talk to Eshe and lock them out of Kenyatta’s option. But if they choose “A garment should reflect the wearer,” informing Jel that money shouldn’t govern his artistic decisions, they will instead speak with Kenyatta, much to the dissatisfaction of Eshe.

Most players have opted for Kenyatta’s option that the dress she wears reflects her fashion tastes; if they chose Eshe’s option, Eshe would feel like she made a wrong choice, giving the commission to Jel and not his mother. However, with Kenyatta’s option, they’ll have further options, whether she should wear a dress her mother would’ve wanted her to wear or convince Jel to design one that reflects Kenyatta’s edgy fashion sense.

Whichever dialogue options they have chosen, they will return to Jel to provide him with feedback before completing the quest, An Existential Conundrum. To compensate players for completing Jel’s Friendship quest, they will improve their Friendship with him and receive 20 Renown, ten pieces of Fur, and three pieces of Silk as rewards.

Palia is currently available via the Epic Games Store and in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is now available to download for Nintendo Switch as of 14th December 2023.
