Overwatch 2 is the brand new free-to-play sequel of Blizzard Entertainment's acclaimed Overwatch 1. One of the biggest updates from The original Overwatch to the sequel is the free-to-play model.
Despite the launch issues that Overwatch 2 had, one thing that went very smoothly is the transfer of the original currency to Overwatch 2. So what exactly are Legacy Credits and how did they end up in your account?
Explaining What Legacy Credits Are In Overwatch 2
In the original game, the currency you could earn was called Overwatch Credits. In Overwatch 2, the main currency that is available is known as Overwatch Coins. In the previous game, players would often collect a large number of Overwatch Credits for loot boxes in hopes of getting legendary skins.
But what happened to those Overwatch Credits? Players should be pleased to know that their credits have transferred to Overwatch 2 and are now named Legacy Credits.

Legacy Credits are the old currency players used to have in Overwatch 1. If a player has never played Overwatch 1, they would not have any Legacy Credits to their name.
Legacy Credits are another way players can purchase items in Overwatch 2. They can be used to buy skins and other cosmetics in the Overwatch 2 Shop section of the game.
There are two important details that players should be made aware of when it comes to Overwatch 2 Legacy Credits. Not everything can be purchased with Legacy Credits. There are certain skins that players cannot buy with Legacy Credits, only with Overwatch Coins.
The second thing is that there is currently no way to earn more or to get Legacy Credits in Overwatch 2. Once your Legacy Credits are spent, they are gone forever. It is unclear if Blizzard will implement a way for players to earn more Legacy Credits at this time, but it is unlikely as the main currency of the game is Overwatch Coins.
