Overwatch 2 has seen a large number of updates ever since it was released. We are in the middle of Season 4 of the game, and players all over are trying out new characters, such as Lifeweaver in the game. There are also plenty of events that are being introduced in Overwatch 2 as well.
Overwatch 2 has been going through several changes throughout the year, and more are expected to come as well. Although there are plenty of updates for Overwatch 2, there are some problems that are popping up. Some characters seem to be broken to the point that it is ruining the integrity of the game. Sigma is broken and has been removed from Competitive game modes in Overwatch 2.
Why Was Sigma Removed From Competitive Game Modes In Overwatch 2?
Unfortunately, Blizzard has had a tendency to launch major updates for Overwatch 2 that has game-breaking problems. In the past, Mei was removed from play due to game-breaking bugs and so were a few other characters. Now Sigma was removed as well. Sigma was removed because his ultimate can be bugged to make him float infinitely.
Sigma's ultimate ability allows him to float in the air, cause opponents to float, and slam them on the ground. But if you are floating with your ultimate and your aim circle is off the map, Sigma will not stop floating. This means you are permanently flying in the air as Sigma with the ability to shoot down enemies from the sky. You cannot use your abilities like this, but this definitely not intended and could be considered bug abuse if you do so.
When Will Sigma Return To Overwatch 2?
If this is like any of the other removals for Overwatch 2, it could take a couple of weeks before Sigma returns to ranked game modes. This is not the first time that Blizzard has had to remove one of their characters from Overwatch 2 due to a bug. It has happened with Mei, Bastion, and Torbjorn.
If the patterns are consistent, then Sigma should be back by the end of May. But it could be a long time before Sigma comes back to competitive game modes in Overwatch 2. After all, this is a very easy bug to abuse in Overwatch 2. We will have to wait and see when Sigma will return to competitive game modes in Overwatch 2. For now, Sigma can still be played in other game modes.
