The 6v6 tests for Overwatch 2 are now live through the Quick Play menu, and players share their thoughts online. While the mode has revealed some issues tied to the 6v6 format, overall, it’s been well-received, hinting at a promising future for Overwatch 2. Let’s dive into the details.
Players Share Positive Feedback on Overwatch 2's 6v6 Tests
The developers at Blizzard have finally launched the first of two 6v6 tests for Overwatch 2, featuring a 2-2-2 role queue format and a host of balance changes made to heroes for this mode. On paper, it may seem like a return to Overwatch 1's style of play, but with the new heroes, abilities, and background adjustments, it’s far from a simple switch and introduces some fresh dynamics to explore.

Players on Reddit have shared their experiences, with many expressing enjoyment despite some criticism. One player noted, "I like it, fights last longer and it’s not lost after 1 person dies," while another added, "Not having raid boss tanks that never die in every game is fantastic, tanks actually die. It’s also nice being able to make high-risk, high-reward plays as a tank without throwing the game for your team if you die."
Discussions have also surfaced about this being the ideal time to play the mode, as Blizzard will likely use the data to gauge player reception of 6v6. While Blizzard will probably make decisions based on their criteria, having a high player count will show interest in the mode.

However, not everything is perfect. One player expressed concerns, saying, "I'm calling it now. This is going to suck. Especially without CC. I just went up against Doom, Ball, Genji, Tracer, Lucio, and Moira. There was nothing we could do," pointing out potential balance issues that need addressing, which is the point of the tests in the first place. Overall, with the test going well so far and the positive reception, this could be a promising step forward for Overwatch 2.
