The cheating problem in Overwatch 2 appears to be worsening, particularly in Ranked games where players are increasingly comfortable with blatant cheating, ruining the experience for everyone. Now, these cheaters are taking a new approach by causing lag or outright crashing servers to gain critical advantages during engagements.

This issue has recently impacted many streamers, highlighting and showcasing how severe the problem is becoming. Let's discuss the recent trend of cheaters hacking servers and crashing them to win matches in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Streamer Catches A Cheater Crashing The Servers to Avoid Losing Games

Cheating has been a common occurrence in Overwatch 2 since its release, and popular players exposing cheaters is nothing new. YouTubers like Jay3 and Flats have frequently showcased cheaters in their videos. Recently, another Overwatch streamer, Supertf, encountered a rare form of cheating: rage-hacking the servers to death.

During his first game, Supertf experienced a DDoS attack in the first round just after his team captured the point, allowing the enemy team to take control instead, essentially breaking the entire game for one team. Ironically, the suspected cheater was named 'DDOS' in the game, and their cheating was confirmed as they played Torbjorn, a character Supertf had seen in previous games where similar DDoS attacks occurred.

As Supertf pointed out in his stream, 'DDOS' has been exploiting the NA Top 500 servers for roughly a week without being banned by Blizzard. This reflects the opinions of players like Jay3 and Flats, who have noted that cheating is worsening over time and even infiltrating the Top 500 servers, which was previously rare.

It seems that the cheating issue is getting worse, and while we wait and hope for Blizzard to start banning these players, we should be reporting them as we come across them in our games. (Picture: Blizzard)

Supertf emphasized that the best way to deal with this is to report any players suspected of cheating, as Blizzard hasn't issued a wave ban to address this issue in a while. Hopefully, Blizzard will step in to remove more of these cheaters, regardless of the technology they're using to hack or ruin the game for others, and we can return to fair and fun matches in Overwatch 2.
