Developer Player First Games has reviewed and revamped the game economy for its free-to-play (F2P) fighting game, MultiVersus. This was detailed in a recent developer post, which saw new forms of in-game currencies, including the Fighter currency, available at launch.
This comes as the Battle Pass and Character tokens will no longer be available for the F2P fighting game, so what is the Fighter currency? We've compiled all the relevant information into this resourceful guide to help players understand the Fighter currency and how to get and use it in MultiVersus.
What Is The Fighter Currency In MultiVersus?
MultiVersus is revamping its currency system, and developer Player First Games revealed in a Developer Series post that it will discontinue some in-game currencies. As the Battle Pass and Characters tokens will no longer be available for players to earn or acquire in-game, one of the new currencies that will replace Character tokens is Fighter currency.
As a refresher, players previously utilized Character tokens to unlock new characters announced by the developer. However, Character tokens were only obtainable through the Founder's Packs, which are no longer available as of February 2023.
With Character tokens no longer present in MultiVersus, the Fighter currency will serve a nearly identical purpose; however, the developer has addressed how it can be earned in-game. We have discussed in this guide below the various ways the Fighter currency can be earned in MultiVersus which should make things more streamlined for new and returning players to unlock their favorite characters.
How To Get And Use The Fighter Currency In MultiVersus?
The Character tokens will be replaced by the new in-game currency, the Fighter currency, upon the game's launch on 28th May 2024. As explained in the aforementioned post, the Fighter currency can be earned in-game, unlike the Character tokens, which only had one acquisition method.
The Fighter currency can be earned in multiple ways, including the Battle Pass, in-game events, and the recently announced new gameplay mode, the Rifts PvE mode. Additionally, players can also earn the Fighter currency through Account and Character Mastery, which the developer stated that these masteries will reset upon the game's launch.
What remains the same between Character tokens and the Fighter currency is what they can be used for. Akin to the now discontinued Character tokens, the Fighter currency can be used to acquire new playable characters in MultiVersus, which all the characters can be found within the Fighters tab in the redesigned Home screen.
If players are unsure about a specific playable character or Fighter or worry about wasting their Fighter currency, they can put their concerns back in a box. The developer will still make their Character Rotation available in-game for free, allowing players to playtest the characters available for a given week before spending their Fighter currency on acquiring them.
