MultiVersus has given players a sneak peek of what they can anticipate ahead of the game's Season 2, expected to be released at the end of July 2024. Developer Player First Games held a livestream during this year's Evolution Championship Series (EVO) in Las Vegas, revealing new content arriving in the forthcoming season.

Two new playable characters were officially announced: Beetlejuice and Samurai Jack will join the roster of playable combatants. Additionally, a new game mode will be added to MultiVersus, for which the developer confirmed that Season 2 is launching on consoles and PCs on 23rd July 2024.

Before the Mortal Kombat 1 Top 6 rounds of matches began, Player First Games held a livestream on their Twitch channel to debut the new content to be added to the game. MultiVersus Season 2 will open the rifts to welcome Beetlejuice and Samurai Jack as new playable characters, with a gameplay trailer for the latter posted across their digital platforms.

Samurai Jack was a character from the self-titled action-adventure animated series which ran for five seasons between 2001 and 2004 on Cartoon Network and in 2017 on Adult Swim. The animated series was highly regarded as one of the best to have premiered on television, as it was praised for its visual art style, incredible action-packed scenes, and storytelling, with Samurai Jack being one of the most beloved animated characters to have graced the screens.

Ranked Mode will be the new game mode to debut in MultiVersus as players can finally compete against their friends in 1v1 matches or tag team competitions in 2v2 games for Leaderboard points. A new map will be arriving to the crossover fighting game, which should be familiar to fans of the Animaniacs series as players can duke it out on the legendary Warner Bros. Water Tower as a playable map.
