The Mortal Kombat 2 movie has cast several more roles, and some of these names are characters that people will no doubt know. It's been confirmed who will be playing Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Queen Sindel, and King Jerrod.
Martyn Ford (Fast & Furious 9) will be playing Shao Kahn, emperor of the fictional realm Outworld, whilst Damon Herriman (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood) will be playing the powerful sorcerer Quan Chi and Ana Thu Nguyen will be playing Queen Sindel, wife of Shao Kahn. Desmond Chiam will also be playing King Jerrod, and you may recognize the actor from his brief appearance as Dovich in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Interestingly, Jerrod isn't really a character in the Mortal Kombat series. He's the late husband of Sindel and the father of Kitana but doesn't have a physical appearance in the entirety of the Mortal Kombat series outside of a few fleeting references. It'll be interesting to see exactly what the movie does with the character, seeing as how he's almost entirely a blank slate.
Along with these new characters, we also know that Karl Urban will be playing Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph will be playing Kitana and Tati Gabrielle will be playing Jade. We can also expect a majority of cast members from the original movie to return, such as Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee's Sonya Blade, and Hiroyuki Sanada's Scorpion.
The movie will be directed by Simon McQuoid, who also directed the first Mortal Kombat movie which was released in 2021.
