The ultimate team building card collector mode has gone through some significant adjustments in recent years with the introduction of a Seasons mechanic rather than traditional power creep across the full lifespan of the game.

With the first chapter wrapping up, MLB The Show 24 Season 2 will be making some core changes to how the XP Reward Path operates that could make things more accessible to average players with limited time. We've got all the details you need about MLB The Show 24 Season 2 and what it'll mean for Diamond Dynasty.

Diamond Dynasty Changes, How Wild Card Slots Work

While the initial introduction of a Seasons mechanic in MLB The Show 23 was a welcome one as many had complained about the impact of power creep in previous years, the implementation in MLB The Show 24 Diamond Dynasty hasn't received rave reviews. Heavy criticism from players about the sheer hours it took to reach top Season 1 XP Reward Path cards has been heard by Sony San Diego, and they're changing things up in Season 2.

The Season 2 XP Reward Path will allow players to make progress much quicker, and more than 200,000 XP will be available across multiple Diamond Dynasty modes as soon as Season 2 launches. They're also pairing the release with a Double XP Weekend starting June 7 featuring a quadruple gameplay XP cap to maximize every hour as players jump into the new season.

With the kickoff of Season 2, the Wild Card Slots mechanic will now be live in Diamond Dynasty. Cards labeled Core will be usable in every season without issue, but S1 cards will now only be part of a valid Season 2 squad if you're using them in a Wild Card Slot. All cards labeled S2 will be eligible throughout Season 2.

Ranked Solo will always have season restrictions, and the same requirements will sometimes be enforced in Conquest, Mini Seasons, Battle Royale, and Events. Ranked Co-Op, Play vs Friends, Play vs CPU, and Casual Head to Head will remain unrestricted and allow lineups featuring cards from any season. Additional Wild Card Slots can be unlocked in the Season 2 XP Reward Path.
