Now that MLB The Show 24 Season 2 has kicked off in Diamond Dynasty, players are having to deal with the struggle of making an eligible squad for certain Conquest maps and other modes. Even though it's only just arrived, several strong Season 2 cards are already up for grabs. Here, we'll go over some of the best Season 2 cards you can unlock quickly to fill out your MLB The Show 24 Diamond Dynasty squad.
Best Season 2 Cards to Unlock First in MLB The Show 24
Before we jump into specific cards, it's worth noting some of your best options will still be Core cards. All of the Live Series cards, as well as several series like Barrier Breakers or the Negro Leagues cards unlocked from Storylines are Core set. Investing in using these and getting their Parallel XP built up with Conquest or Play vs CPU matches is a good way to ensure you're not set back too far with each new Season.
As for the hands down best Season 2 cards, it'll easily be the 99 Hall of Fame Series cards like Bob Gibson or Chipper Jones. However, those will be unlocked via the Season 2 XP Reward Path and the Season 2 Collection, both of which are going to take quite a while to finish up, unless you've got a metric ton of Stubs laying around that will help you blitz the Season 2 Collection. While you'll likely be stuck with Core cards at first, let's go over some of the best Season 2 options you can target early on.
Rookie Series Jhoan Duran - 92 OVR Relief Pitcher
One of the more accessible low 90s options that's Season 2 eligible is definitely Rookie Series Jhoan Duran. You may get lucky enough to find him featured in a 50 Show Packs bundle, but you also might get a shot to snag him on the marketplace. If you've got some Stubs saved up, the price is settling around the low 30,000 Stubs range.
Standout Series Juan Marichal - 91 OVR Starting Pitcher
Another pitching option that could anchor your squad is Juan Marichal, who is featured in Headliners Pack 23. If you don't want to wait until you have or can afford a pack, his price has slid into the 12,000 Stubs range and may be more affordable if you're patient enough to place a buy order and wait it out.
Standout Series Eddie Murray - 91 OVR First Base
Players looking for a good First Base option, or someone to slot in at DH, can't go wrong with the 91 OVR Eddie Murray. His price is hovering around the 4,000 to 5,000 Stubs range, but part of that is likely the lack of secondary positions. Not a lot of versatility, but if he fits in your squad you'll have strong hitting stats along with decent fielding, even if his speed is lacking.
London Series Bryce Harper or Brandon Nimmo - 91 OVR
Tossing in a pair here, as you'll find them the same way. Head to the new London Series program, knock out the Moments first, and then make sure you've got a Phillies and Mets heavy squad. Head to Play vs CPU against the punching bag of your choosing in a small stadium, and chip away at those Missions until you wrap up this program and net one London Series Choice Pack.
You'll need some luck to pull the Rare Tier which gives you a chance to choose Harper or Nimmo, both very strong cards. If you snag the Base Tier, you'll still have a good trio to pick from with Orion Kerkering, Mark Vientos, and David Dahl. Just make sure to take a look at the pack within the London Series program first and figure out which of these will be most useful for your current Season 2 squad makeup before opening the pack and making your choice.
Architects Program & Team Affinity
Finally, your next best target for Season 2 cards will be the Architects Program and latest Team Affinity release. You can make plenty of progress on the latter by knocking out the new Team Affinity Conquest maps, on top of securing those hidden rewards.
If you jump into the Architects Program, you can unlock Tim Locastro to fill your outfield just by finishing the program's four Moments. Once you've got a few good Season 2 cards in place, it should be a domino effect as your squad grows stronger and you work towards the Season 2 XP Reward Path bosses.
