Developer Bad Ridge Games is gearing up for the global launch of their medieval fantasy RPG Mirthwood. The game was initially intended for launch in September 2024; however, the developer pushed back its release to November 2024, citing that they "felt there were still key areas, like performance optimization, localization, and some of the systems, that needed more work and attention before launch."

While they hosted a Closed Beta shortly following the game's delay announcement, they're on track for its Steam release but can players expect it to run on Steam Deck? This guide will answer the important question of whether Mirthwood can run on the Steam Deck at launch.

Can Mirthwood Run On Steam Deck?

The medieval fantasy RPG Mirthwood is nearing its Steam launch after being delayed from September 2024 to its new and current release date of 6th November 2024. As it will be exclusively available on PC via Steam, naturally interested players have wondered whether the game will be Steam Deck Verified in time for its release.

In the game's first development roadmap update, Steam Deck Verified Support was to be included with the game's December 2024 content update, The Feast and Festivities update. However, following the game's delay announcement, an updated development roadmap was released via the game's Discord server, which saw some additions and omissions made to its future content plans.

This saw the Steam Deck Verified Support being moved from its December 2024 update, with its status currently unknown as of writing. Therefore, we cannot confirm when Mirthwood's Steam Deck Verified Support will be available; however, players can run the game on the Steam Deck device granted players must adjust a handful of settings to get it running as it won't have Controller Support at launch.

According to one player on Reddit, they advised Steam Deck owners to have the device docked "with a keyboard and mouse" as Controller Support was initially intended to launch with the game in September 2024. In the updated development roadmap that was revealed following the game's delay announcement, Controller Support is also omitted from any forthcoming content updates, so it's not clear when we can anticipate both Steam Deck Verified and Controller Support.
