With the recent demo for Mecha Break proving to be a huge success, attracting massive attention despite mixed reviews, fans are eager to learn more about the game's full release. One key detail they’re curious about is the release platforms. Thankfully, the CEO of the company behind the game has come forward to discuss this aspect, including the decision to make the game an Xbox exclusive alongside a PC release. Here are the details.

Mecha Break CEO Talks Xbox Exclusivity and Game Pass Plans

When Mecha Break was first announced, it was expected to be released across all platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. However, in a recent update from the developers, it was revealed that the game will instead launch on Steam, Windows PC via the Xbox App, and as a console launch exclusive for Xbox Series X|S—without any mention of PlayStation.

The decision to omit PlayStation from the initial launch lineup is surprising. Fortunately, in a recent interview with Windows Central, Amazing Seasun Games CEO Kris Kwok provided insight into the decision, specifically regarding the game's partnership with Microsoft. When discussing why they chose Xbox as their console launch platform, Kwok jokingly stated that "[Microsoft] is more aggressive than Sony" in this case.

He later clarified that the partnership was a mutually beneficial arrangement, as mech games are already highly saturated in the Japanese market. By launching exclusively on Xbox in the West, the game faced less risk.

The interview also touched on the possibility of Mecha Break coming to Xbox Game Pass. When asked about this, the interviewer noted that Kwok responded with an "affirmative," suggesting that while it's not officially confirmed, Xbox Game Pass users could be in for some premium extras when the game launches.

But what about PlayStation? Fortunately, when responding to a fan question about platform availability, the developers stated, "We look forward to bringing Mecha Break to PlayStation players later in 2025." This suggests that while Mecha Break will be a console exclusive at launch, a PS5 release is planned for a later date.

While the CEO didn’t provide further details on this timeline, it seems likely that the developers have a broader rollout strategy they haven’t fully revealed yet. More concrete information may come soon. For now, PlayStation fans will have to wait, but there’s hope that Mecha Break will eventually arrive on all platforms.
