Marvel Snap's "Brave New World" season is nearing its conclusion, and to get Snappers reading for the next season beginning in March 2025, a new in-game event has arrived to the card battler game. This event, which has been previously datamined before its official announcement, welcomes a new mystical game mode, the Sanctum Showdown, where Snappers battle it out to earn points and Charms, improve their ranking, and acquire new cards.

Regardless of whether Snappers win or lose games, they can reap the rewards when they earn points and Charms to find magical surprises awaiting them at the Sanctum Shop. This guide covers what we know about the Sanctum Showdown game mode, including the event schedule, how to enter and play, rewards, and more when stepping within the Sanctum Sanctorum for the ultimate showdown!

Marvel Snap Sanctum Showdown Limited-Time Game Mode: Start & End Dates And How To Play

First revealed during the February 2025 Developer Update, a new limited-time mode (LTM), Sanctum Showdown, which went live in Marvel Snap on 25th February 2025 following the weekly reset. This new game mode will see Snappers step into the Sanctum Sanctorum with a brand new game board background, where the main objective is to acquire 16 points in a game to win the match.

Before explaining how this new game mode works, Snappers have between 25th February 2025 and 11th March 2025 at 10:59 am PT / 1 pm ET / 6 pm UTC to rise through the ranks, acquire as many Rank Points as possible, and earn plenty of Charms and Scrolls to redeem them at the limited-time Sanctum Shop. Every time Snappers enter the new limited-time game mode, they'll spend one Scroll, akin to Deadpool's Diner spending Bubs to join a table, which all Snappers start with 12 Scrolls and earn two additional Scrolls every eight hours.

The rules for the Sanctum Showdown game mode are similar to a Friendly match whereby each game features three locations, starts with three cards in their hand, one Max Energy, and can Snap from Turn 3 onwards to increase the points value at locations. However, the significant difference with the Sanctum Showdown game mode is that there are unlimited turns, and a random location on Turns 1 and 2 will become the Sanctum, which is worth a point, and the Snapper winning that location will earn a point.

On Turn 3, the Sanctum location is worth four points, while the remaining two locations are valued at one point each, and Snappers are to win the locations to earn the points. Additionally, they can Snap from this turn onwards with a new green enchanted Snap button, which, pressing it, adds a point "to the Sanctum location for the turn," and they "can snap once on every turn, not just once per game."

Accumulate points by winning the Sanctum locations throughout the turns, and the first to earn 16 points wins the game. In the case both Snappers have 16 points, the first Snapper "with the highest point total" will win the game, but if both are "tied above 16," then the game ends in a tie, and both Snappers will earn their points, but not the Scroll.

The points earned through Sanctum Showdown games will contribute to their Sorcerer Rank and Charms, of which six ranks will unlock at specific milestones starting from "Novice," which are as follows:

  • Initiate Rank: Unlocks at 40 points; awards with 500 Charms, four Scrolls, and the "Welcome to the Showdown" title card
  • Acolyte Rank: Unlocks at 250 points, awards with 500 Charms and four Scrolls
  • Sorcerer Rank: Unlocks at 600 points; awards with 500 Charms and four Scrolls
  • Disciple Rank: Unlocks at 1,100 points; awards with 750 Charms and four Scrolls
  • Librarian Rank: Unlocks at 1,900 points; awards with 1,000 Charms and five Scrolls
  • Sorcerer Supreme: Unlocks at 3,500 points; awards with 1,500 Charms, five Scrolls, and the "Sorcerer Supreme" title card

Snappers can enter the Sanctum Sanctorum with decks featuring any cards to take advantage of earning points from Sanctum locations; however, a few cards are "banished" from entering this game mode. The developer has revealed the following cards that Snappers cannot use during the Sanctum Showdown game mode which are the following:

  • Annihilus
  • Captain Marvel
  • Debrii
  • Dracula
  • Galactus
  • Green Goblin
  • Hobgoblin
  • Juggernaut
  • Invisible Woman
  • Kang
  • M'Baku
  • Magik
  • Malekith
  • Martyr
  • Mysterio
  • Quake
  • Storm
  • Supergiant
  • Viper

Snappers can earn plenty of rewards during the event's run, including Scrolls and Charms, the game mode's currencies, which can be used in various ways. These can be earned from playing games, Twitch Drops, and buying them from the Sanctum Shop; Scrolls allow Snappers to enter the Sanctum Sanctorum and play a game, while Charms can use them to purchase items from the limited-time Sanctum Shop.

Snappers can purchase emotes, title cards, borders, variant cards, and Avatars for Baron Mordo, Doctor Strange, and Wong within the Sanctum Shop. As mentioned before, Snappers can buy Credits and Scrolls from this shop using Charms as well as an Unowned Series 4 or Series 5 card and one of the three new base cards available for this game mode, Gorgon, Laufey, and Uncle Ben, by spending 1,200 Charms on the "Portal Pull" to enter the portal and summon one of the three cards to add to their Collection.

Marvel Snap Sanctum Showdown Limited-Time Game Mode: Twitch Drops
