One of Marvel Comics' most landmark events, Avengers vs. X-Men, spills over into the battling world of Marvel Snap in its new season this March 2024. Much like the comics, players can expect key figures to come to the card battler game, including the effervescent yet steadfast mutant Pixie, who arrives this season.
Pixie's abilities match her cheerful disposition, as she can integrate herself within a group or team; players must progress through the Collection levels to unlock her via the Spotlight Caches. If players want to include Pixie in their deck this month, we've explained how her abilities work and the best decks featuring cards synergizing with her in Marvel Snap.
Marvel Snap Pixie Card Abilities Explained
Megan Gwynn, better known as Pixie from Marvel Comics, brings her "cheerful, optimistic attitude" to Marvel Snap for the Avengers vs. X-Men season. Pixie is confirmed to be a two-cost, one-power card with a unique On Reveal ability where once played, she will shuffle the costs of all cards in your deck that started there.
This card functions similarly to Mister Negative and The Peak location, which has led to much discussion about how it could synergize with other cards and how to approach deck-building. Nevertheless, once Pixie is played on Turn 2, the best scenario is to have multiple low- and high-cost cards remaining in their deck; however, it does strike some issues if Pixie is available in their hand to play on Turn 2, which players are to approach deck-building more cautiously.
Best Marvel Snap Pixie Decks: Pixie Lockjaw
The gameplay style of the Lockjaw deck synergizes exceptionally well with Pixie's ability, and it feels like a natural fit for her. As the Lockjaw archetype aims at triggering Lockjaw's ability to swap a card played at its location with a card from their deck, the combination of Lockjaw and Adam Warlock will help bring out all the cards affected by Pixie's ability.
As long as players can get Pixie on board before playing Lockjaw and Adam Warlock, most gameplay will function like a traditional Lockjaw deck. The pairing of Thor, Beta Ray Bill, and Jane Foster ensures players secure priority, but once Odin ends up in their hand, they can repeat the process when placed at Lockjaw's location.
Best Marvel Snap Pixie Decks: Pixie Lockdown
The Lockdown archetype strives to gain lane priority for players by limiting their opponent's ability to play through specific control cards. Pixie could find its place within the Lockdown meta, ensuring early priority once played as soon as possible once Ms. Marvel comes into play.
The jist for this gameplay strategy is that once Pixie and Ms. Marvel have been played, players can play the following cards on either side of the board until Professor X enters their hand. However, should players get Pixie into their hands within the early turns of the game, they can still claim a victory with this strategy without Pixie ever entering their hands.
This is especially true if they managed to play Jeff the Baby Land Shark before playing Professor X, in which case they can move Jeff into the Professor's location on Turn 6. The same can be said for Vision and Nightcrawler, but keep an eye out for Martyr, which may cost them the game, so ensure that the opposing lanes are prioritized.
Best Marvel Snap Pixie Decks: Pixie Galactus Locke
Once again, another good archetype that Pixie can synergize exceptionally well with is the Galactus archetype, especially when paired with Alioth. As soon as Pixie is on board, most of their high-powered cards become more accessible, especially with Ravonna Renslayer played and if Mystique copies its ability.
Much like with the previous deck, Adam Warlock is also a priority for getting onto the board, as it will help players get those cards affected by Pixie's ability into their hands sooner. This includes getting Iron Man, Alioth, and Galactus into their hands, which can be played fairly early if players want to limit their opponent's plays.
Psylocke will ensure players can play those vital cards much faster, especially Galactus, before securing another win with Alioth on board. With just a few games played, it's unclear just how well Pixie synergizes with Mister Negative, so it's worth playing around. If it causes too much disruption, players can swap it out for a card that works best, like Hope Summers, for the extra energy gain.
