The Young Avengers are taking over Marvel Snap in the new season, bringing much youth and power to the game in supporting their teammates. With Kate Bishop as the next Season Pass card release, she'll be joined in the release week by the intergalactic Kree peacekeeper Marvel Boy so that players can acquire his card and bolster their decks.
While Marvel Boy may be one of the Young Avengers with more diplomatic and combat experience in Marvel Comics, his experiences will be much-needed in-game thanks to his incredible powers and skill set he has to offer. This marvelous guide previews what we know about Marvel Boy, including his card ability, key synergies, and some great decks to try adding Marvel Boy to in Marvel Snap.
Marvel Snap Marvel Boy Card Abilities Explained
Another member of the Young Avengers will join Kate Bishop in the brand new season of Marvel Snap this August, bringing his genetically engineered powers to the game. The Kree peacekeeper Noh-Varr/Marvel Boy is the second card release to start the season, and he is eagerly excited to make this multiversal battleground his next home.
So, what does Marvel Boy bring to the Young Avengers and Marvel Snap? At release, he is a three-Cost and two-Power card with a common ability (abilities that aren't On Reveal or Ongoing) that gives three one-cost cards +1 Power after each Turn.
As for acquiring Marvel Boy, this marvelous hero will be available to grab from the week's Spotlight Caches, alongside Blob and Red Hulk, which can be opened with Spotlight Keys. Alternatively, he'll be appearing in the Token Shop in his release week, for which players can spend 6,000 Collector's Tokens to add him to their Collection and slot him into decks, which we've spotlighted three unique decks to try from Day 1.
Best Marvel Snap Marvel Boy Decks: Marvelous Zoo
The first deck to be spotlighted is perhaps Marvel Boy's best and most synergistic is the Ka-Zoo deck. Along with Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, these cards will further push the Zoo archetype, which got a massive resurgence following Gilgamesh's release.
As Marvel Boy synergizes incredibly well with the Zoo/Ka-Zoo archetype, core cards like Squirrel Girl, Shanna the She-Devil, and Caiera are key to Marvel Boy's success, with Squirrel Girl being the best and cheapest option of providing great targets for him to hit. This marvelous Zoo deck from Marvel Snap content creator Docty illustrates this, as we have previously featured it in our Kate Bishop guide, although with a few tweaks, so it's worth its inclusion here.
Notably, Marvel Boy will also have Kate Bishop's arrows as other targets along with Ant-Man and Nico Minoru, particularly her card-copying spell, which can be valuable in adding another one-Cost card to their hand. Likewise, Shanna will add three one-Cost cards at each location, which will help bring down Mockingbird's cost before gaining power buffs from Ka-Zar and Blue Marvel and help get Gilgamesh to go incredibly tall as a result.
Best Marvel Snap Marvel Boy Decks: Marvelously EVO
Outside of the Zoo/Ka-Zoo archetype, it may be difficult to see Marvel Boy synergizing well, but another archetype that will also greatly benefit from Marvel Boy's power buff is the High Evolutionary deck. This archetype continues to get better with some great card releases that further strengthen its value and could be a good home for Marvel Boy.
This deck provided by Marvel Snap content creator Ankh sees some tweaks made to include Squirrel Girl and Caiera to safeguard it with Evolved Misty Knight and Sunspot. This allows Marvel Boy to target these cards safely, but if they have yet to draw Marvel Boy in time, Magik can be played to extend the game by one Turn.
Kate Bishop also finds her way in this deck, providing additional targets for Marvel Boy, as the rest of the deck is a typical High Evo with Evolved Cyclops, Evolved Hulk, and The Infinaut. The latter can be eventually played with She-Hulk if they are confident enough to skip a turn, which should help them cross the finish line and secure a victory!
Best Marvel Snap Marvel Boy Decks: Marvelously Charged Patriot
There are other cards that can add or generate one-Cost cards other than Shanna the She-Devil and Squirrel Girl, for which they can look to Ultron. Ultron has been a core card in Iron Patriot decks for some time, benefitting buffs from Patriot, Ka-Zar, and Blue Marvel before Onslaught gets on board.
As Patriot is a fellow Young Avenger recruit like Kate Bishop and Marvel Boy, keeping the trio together in this power-enhancing deck from Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper. This time, Marvel Boy will have The Hood/Demon, Martyr, and Squirrel Girl as early targets until Kate Bishop's arrows come into play and, much later, Ultron's drones.
Players will have their plays concealed with Invisible Woman, which should be a great cover for Patroit, Ka-Zar, and Blue Marvel. This can help them spread out the one-Cost cards across the board in case their opponent attempts to counter them, but if Ultron doesn't enter their hand, they will have Doctor Doom and his Doom Bots as targets for Blue Marvel to hit.
