As the Marvel Rivals crossover season with card battler, Marvel Snap is approaching its conclusion as we welcome the new year and plenty of new seasons and cards to anticipate. To wrap up the Marvel Rivals season, the limited-time game mode High Voltage returns for around a week, during which Snappers can bring out their best decks to earn Volts and complete the mode's exclusive missions for more Volts.

These Volts will help Snappers earn various rewards, including Credits, Gold, and the final card release, Lasher, the last reward to claim, and can start adding it to some interesting decks. This toxic guide details everything about Lasher, including its abilities, key synergies and counters, and three interesting decks that feature Lasher in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Lasher Card Abilities Explained

As previously mentioned, the popular High Voltage limited-time game mode returns between 28th December 2024 and 4th January 2025, where Snappers can bring out their high value, ever powerful, and high-Cost cards to play for plenty of rewards. One such reward from the mode's Rewards Tracker, other than the Spider-Man 2099 variant, is the Lasher base card, the final card release for the current Marvel Rivals season.

The symbiote Lasher, who merged with a security officer Ramón Hernández, is one of five symbiotes who are off-shoots or "children" of Venom devised by The Life Foundation, who would go on to form one of Marvel Comics' most lethal team-ups until they met their demise at the hands of Venom and Spider-Man. While this card should've been released alongside other noted symbiotes like Agony and Scream during the "We Are Venom" season in October 2024, the card is finally here and ready to activate its poisonous capabilities to afflict opponent's cards in-game.

Upon its release as a Series 4 card, Lasher is a two-Cost and two Power card, the next card released with an Activate ability, meaning Snappers have between Turns 2 and 5 to trigger it manually. Its Activate ability will afflict a random enemy card with negative power equivalent to its current card Power; for example, once activated, it will afflict an enemy card with -2 Power if Lasher's Power remains unchanged, but if buffed, its current Power will be the value of negative power afflicted to a card.

As for how Snappers can obtain the Lasher card, it's pretty straightforward as it's currently available for free as the final tier reward from the High Voltage limited-time game mode by accumulating 12,000 Volts. Should Snappers be unsuccessful in obtaining Lasher, the card will be available via the in-game Token Shop from 11th January 2025 as a Series 4 card release, and they can spend 3,000 Collector's Tokens to add it to their Collection.

Best Marvel Snap Lasher Decks: Sinister Symbiote Power

Play cards like Agony, Ironheart and Galacta to buff Lasher's power before activating its ability to afflict negative power to an enemy card. (Picture: Second Dinner / Untapped.gg)

As mentioned before, Lasher's release in Marvel Snap is quite a curious card, as the character is one of five symbiotes, along with Agony and Scream, spawned from Venom, who then formed The Life Foundation’s deadly symbiote group. While its release feels significantly late, as it should've been released during the October 2024 season, the card's in-game debut has already generated some interesting deck synergies based on its card ability.

As the card can afflict an enemy card with negative power once activated, there are a few key ways to maximize this with a power buffing deck like this spotlighted deck from Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper. To afflict negative power equal to Lasher's card power, it will need a few supporting cards to ensure this, like fellow Symbiote Agony, Ironheart, Galacta, Gwenpool, and Namora, the latter should Snappers wish to play Lasher alone at a location, to buff Lasher and other cards like Mister Sinister, Brood, Sebastian Shaw and Scarlet Spider.

Additionally, if Lasher is the top card of their deck, America Chavez can potentially hit the card, but Okoye can be a good alternative to buff all the cards on the deck. Peni Parker can be a great utility card to have, not just to grant them extra Energy, but by playing the Sp//dr token card, it can merge with Lasher to buff its power and have the ability to move it to avoid it being countered.

Best Marvel Snap Lasher Decks: Lashing Good Cards

Control the locations with Cosmo and Legion and swing priority to their favor in this new version of the Good Cards deck. (Picture: Second Dinner / Untapped.gg)

As Lasher is highly susceptible to counters like Shadow King, Luke Cage, Red Guardian, and Lady Deathstrike, Snappers are to bolster their deck with cards to counter them, with Cosmo as a top priority card to add. With the inclusion of Iron Lad, they can likely hit Cosmo if it's the top card of their deck; they can opt for Mystique as an alternative card to copy Cosmo's ability and safeguard other valuable cards.

Marvel Snap content creator DenHearthstone has created a new iteration of the Good Cards archetype with this lashing deck, which features a few cards to help get Lasher some early power buffs before safely moving it away. Once again, Agony, Peni Parker, and Galacta can ensure Lasher gains these power buffs before playing the Sp//dr token card to move it away to the Cosmo lane.

Snappers will have Zabu to discount Galacta, Iron Lad, and other four-Cost cards, while Legion can add a new wrinkle with location changes, and Vision can be utilized to swing priority away from their opponent. Doom 2099 is another addition and a great card to include and yes, Doctor Doom is also featured in this deck to maximize the buffs gained from the DoomBots 2099.

Best Marvel Snap Lasher Decks: Evolved Lasher

High Evolutionary? No problem! Lasher will thrive with Evolved cards like Wasp, Cyclops and The Thing to afflict negative power. (Picture: Second Dinner / Untapped.gg)

Lastly, should Snappers wish to run Lasher in an Affliction-style deck, the High Evolutionary archetype is their best option, as it includes key cards whose powers are unlocked with High Evolutionary. While this deck doesn't have Luke Cage added, they do have options to counter it, like Rogue, Red Guardian, Enchantress, and Super Skrull.

This High Evolutionary deck from Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper features the usual suspects and two new additions in Bruce Banner and Frigga, which if they don't have Bruce Banner just yet, they can swap it out for the above-mentioned counters or Caiera to protect Sunspot, She-Hulk and Evolved Hulk. Alongside High Evolutionary, the key cards that can deal affliction include Evolved Wasp, Cyclops, and The Thing, which will discount Evolved Abomination's cost.

This, of course, allows them to conserve more Energy to power Sunspot and discount She-Hulk to make the latter card more accessible in mid-game turns. Lastly, Magik's inclusion means that Snappers can float Energy throughout the turns to power Sunspot and cheapen She-Hulk's cost, which may help in potentially triggering Bruce Banner's "Hulk Out" to convert the card to a Hulk.
