Marvel Snap's latest season has finally landed on PCs and mobile devices as Snappers will go to war across the Nine Realms with new character cards aiding or working against us in-game. One character that will lend us a hand in this epic new season is the Queen of Asgard, Frigga, who arrives in her majestic glory and godly powers to Marvel Snap.
Likewise, Snappers in need of her assistance will want to learn as much about her regarding her gameplay mechanics and other vital information before opting to add the card to their Collection. As such, this guide details what we know about the Queen Mother, Frigga, by highlighting her abilities, key synergies, counters, and a few deck ideas that feature her in Marvel Snap.
Marvel Snap Frigga Card Abilities Explained
Her royal majesty, the Queen of Asgard, the wife to the All-Father Odin and mother of the God of Thunder, Thor, and the God of Mischief, Loki, has arrived at Marvel Snap in the new season, War of the Nine Realms. Frigga has certainly captivated audiences throughout Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) over the last decade, and now she aims to lend a hand in times of need in Marvel Snap.
Following the weekly refresh and season launch of the "War of the Nine Realms," Frigga launches as a three Cost and three Power card in which she comes prepared for battle with a unique yet powerful ability. When on board, this On Reveal ability adds a copy of the last card played to their hand if able.
The last condition means it can only add the copied card to their hand if it's not full or, in other instances, preventing them from having a card added to their hand. Based on this card text description and initial gameplay mechanics, Frigga can copy and add buffed cards and cards with strong On Reveal abilities, and the same can be said for those who generate cards like Daiken, Kate Bishop, and Snowguard.
Cards flipped by Mister Negative and Anti-Venom are also likely to be ideal cards to have copied by Frigga's ability, which can benefit certain deck archetypes or be of value when deckbuilding. As we'll discuss this further in our spotlighted decks, Frigga can be acquired from the Token Shop for 6,000 Collector's Tokens or from the Spotlight Caches using their Spotlight Keys during its release week, so let's look at some interesting decks to include this card.
Best Marvel Snap Frigga Decks: Royal Hammers
There has been a fair share of theories and deck ideas on how exactly Frigga can be included in various deck archetypes without feeling too clunky to play. She does require some setup through multi-card combos to make the card feel incredibly powerful; however, do watch out for Cosmo, Red Guardian, and Sandman, which are her top counters, preventing Snappers from playing those extra cards.
Frigga has a slightly underwhelming power stat; it needs fantastic cards to synergize and combine with Thor and Beta Ray Bill, the strongest cards to pair up with Frigga. Snappers will be looking to copy either Mjolnir or Stormbreaker once they've been played; the Hammers deck could benefit from adding Frigga to this deck from Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper.
Typically, Thor, Beta Ray Bill, and Odin are paired up with Wong, but with his omission of Frigga, they'll need other cards to retrigger abilities like Grandmaster and Misery (which Absorbing Man can be an alternative to either card). Magik has been included to extend the game by a turn, and they'll have Armor to safeguard Thor and Beta Ray Bill from Shang-Chi, whose respective hammers can be drawn to the hand with Jane Foster.
Best Marvel Snap Frigga Decks: Frigga Of The Galaxy
Taking advantage of Frigga's copying ability means Snappers will need to combo the card with some powerful one and two Cost cards. Luckily, there are plenty that can easily be copied, especially cards that gain power when played at specific locations or when their opponent plays cards like Rocket Raccoon, Silver Sable, Medusa, and Star-Lord, to name a few.
But adding an element of surprise to throw their opponents off their game is the intention behind this Guardians of the Galaxy-themed deck from Marvel Snap content creator Ankh. There are some control aspects to this deck, including Jean Grey and Storm, to prevent them from making certain plays while locking down a location they're guaranteed to win.
This also ensures that they're guaranteed to trigger Drax and Gamora's ability at the Jean Grey location, and Jeff the Baby Land Shark can help secure location priority. If this is the case, Alioth can be played to remove abilities from unrevealed cards on the last turn, which, if they played their cards right, a victory is on the cards for them!
Best Marvel Snap Frigga Decks: The Toxic Queen
Frigga's copying ability not only works on cards that gain power when played or give power to other cards but can also be counter-productive to your opponents when their strategy is being disrupted. As we know, Frigga can copy buffed cards or those generated by other cards, it can also copy those that can afflict cards on the board or in their deck so she can be factored into Afflication-based decks.
Deckbuilding using Affliction-based cards should be quite straightforward, especially when prioritizing which are best to play with and around Frigga's ability. This toxic deck from Marvel Snap content creator Dddrewsky has a few interesting additions, like Cable for a Mill twist, in which Baron Zemo could be an option, and Anti-Venom will reduce the top card's power and cost value within the deck to 0.
All that's left is to inflict as much negative power to their opponents' cards, which they might take a hit having Luke Cage will prevent this from happening. Hazmat, US Agent, and Man-Thing will afflict cards, while Ajax gains power from cards afflicted by them, and having certain tech cards like Shadow King will reset cards back to their base power to frustrate their opponents and win the game!
