Marvel Rivals has had a busy few days as they were a part of Disney's D23 festivities in Brazil last weekend, while developer NetEase Games continued to provide daily news announcements posted to their social media accounts ahead of the game's global release next month. Recently, developer NetEase Games confirmed at the D23 Brazil presentation that Moon Knight is the next confirmed playable hero and will be gaining an exclusive "Mister Knight" character skin available at launch.
However, before Moon Knight's eventual confirmation was revealed, the developer also announced something new for Peni Parker, and recently, another character was also gaining a new cosmetic available to all players at launch. The latter character follows a trend with previous skin announcements for Rocket Raccoon, Thor, and, more recently, Groot, which all took inspiration from their live-action counterparts.
Last weekend, Marvel Rivals players and fans awaited the latest news announcements, which executive producer Danny Koo promised on Discord (h/t Miller Ross) will occur daily around 12 am UTC. The weekend saw three announcements, one of whom was Moon Knight's arrival to Marvel Rivals, but one day earlier, the developer unveiled a new cosmetic for the Vanguard classed hero, Peni Parker.
The "VEN#m" exclusive skin for Peni Parker was announced on social media on 9th November 2024; this skin is lifted from its comic book appearance in the Edge of Spider-Geddon (2018) #2 and now is crossing the Multiverse to arrive in-game in times for the game's release. More recently, Peter Quill / Star-Lord is the latest hero to have received a Rivals Assemble character promo, which the character too is receiving an exclusive skin available for Star-Lord at launch.
Akin to fellow Guardians members Rocket Raccoon and Groot, Star-Lord's exclusive skin is inspired by the titular character's live-action appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Players who have watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in theatres or on Disney+ will recognize this cosmetic as Star-Lord's exclusive skin is based on the suit that the character wore in the aforementioned film in 2023, and no, this isn't a trap either!
As stated before, these two skins will be available to all players when Marvel Rivals launches as a free-to-play (F2P) game for consoles and PCs on 6th December 2024. There is no update on how exactly these can be acquired; we'll provide further updates once the information has been provided.
