Developer NetEase Games has teased a significant announcement for their superhero team-based PvP shooter Marvel Rivals, which will be announced soon. The announcement will be made at Gamescom this month, with many players speculating that a release date for Marvel Rivals is on the way, which they can tune into a special broadcast with the developer.
This was teased in a social media post on Twitter, in which NetEase hinted at some announcements that will be made during the Gamescom Opening Night Live (ONL) livestream. A separate developer livestream will take place following the Gamescom ONL, in which there will be some game updates to be confirmed in the developer livestream.
NetEase Games are in attendance at this year's Gamescom, where the developer will host several "hands-on demos" in which attendees can participate. However, the developer announced on Twitter that "new heroes and surprises" are in store for players who'll tune into the Gamescom Opening Night Live (ONL) livestream on 20th August 2024 at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 8 pm CEST on their YouTube channel or directly from the Opening Night Live website.
The developer shared additional information in a separate Twitter post following the ONL livestream at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET / 11 pm CEST; a developer livestream will be hosted on their official Twitch channel, which features "jaw-dropping CG reveals, brand new heroes gameplay, and so much more." But wait, there's more as post Twitch livestream; players can join the official Marvel Rivals Discord server for a special community presentation from Gamescom and an AMA discussion with Marvel Games Executive Producer Danny Koo and members of the game's development team.
While there has been no official confirmation from the developer on which characters could be heading to Marvel Rivals, despite multiple leaks circulating online, it's worth catching the ONL and the Marvel Rivals livestreams to see what's being announced. However, the closing moments of the console announcement trailer do tease potential content relating to the nation of Wakanda, which could be revealed during these livestreams at Gamescom.
