The yearly cycle of players complaining about the new Madden game in some shape or form is back and better than ever.
After an influx of “mostly negative” reviews on Steam, leading to players refunding the game, social media posts began to surface from players who made it past the two-hour mark of Madden 22. More specifically, there appears to be a myriad of issues with the Franchise mode of the game, arguably the most popular mode in the entire game.
According to numerous players on Reddit and Twitter, Franchise mode is severely broken. From displaying the wrong scores to giving players losses when they actually win, nothing about the mode seems to be working properly. Players have reported a number of other problems and the work EA Sports needs to do is mounting by the day.
Madden 22 Franchise mode glitched in more ways than one
While other aspects of Madden 22 are either broken or glitched, it’s Franchise mode that’s receiving most of the attention. The biggest problem players are facing is a loss glitch, which gives them the loss for a game they just completed and won. One Redditor explains that they won a game 38-28 then backed out to the lobby to find it was actually recorded that their team lost.
This resulted in the player being fired. It should be noted that the Redditor didn’t experience any problems until reaching the playoffs, so perhaps that’s where the main issue lies.
Of course, that’s only for the loss glitch in Madden 22. Other Redditors are reporting that their trades aren’t working or even appearing properly. According to one player, some positions of players appear twice and completely overlap another position, making it impossible for them to view one key position.
The fan states “when in Franchise and scrolling through my positions to trade I get LT (left tackle) twice once where it should be and then the 2nd time where the right tackle should be.” Other Redditors responded with humour, saying that the original poster is lucky they’re having only a few issues with the game instead of the dozen others are facing.
These kinds of issues and glitches arise every year with the release of a new Madden title. Players grow frustrated with the game but they still buy and play it year after year due to there being no other game like Madden. EA Sports has a near-complete monopoly on the football simulation video game market, and players are almost forced to play Madden if they want to experience it.
However, some players aren’t taking too kindly to EA Sports’ apparent lack of attention to Madden 22. Recently, some diehard fans made a petition to make the NFL change the developers of Madden. These players feel EA Sports have had the reins for too long without making any substantial strides. Instead, players are forced to deal with issues like the loss glitch every year.
It remains to be seen how long players will have to endure the various glitches plaguing Franchise mode and other aspects of Madden 22. Although, it seems safe to say EA Sports will be dealing with their fair share of refunds in the coming days and weeks.
