Fans can try out Life is Strange: Double Exposure for the first time today, as the first two chapters are now available for those with Early Access. These chapters explore Max Caulfield - the protagonist of the iconic first game - exploring new adventures as a photographer-in-residence at Caledon University. She journeys off on a "parallel-universe-spanning" mystery, meeting new characters like astrophysicist Moses and poet Safi.
"For fans of the episodic releases of past games, these first two chapters offer the perfect setup for the dramatic events to come and shouldn’t be missed," Square Enix noted in a blog post. These new chapters not only re-introduce Max in this setting, but also introduce players to her situation.
Players have already begun sharing their experiences and theories about the chapters and the game as a whole on social media, with many noting that the game's plot seems complex thus far. Complicated but thoughtful and emotional plots are a key theme in Life is Strange games, meaning this title may mirror previous ones in its storytelling style.
To celebrate the game's release, Square Enix held an Early Access preview livestream including the likes of Hannah Telle (Max Caulfield), Blu Allen (Moses Murphy), and Chloe Moriondo.
Fans can pick up the Ultimate Edition of the game, which allows for Early Access to the first two chapters, any time from 15 October 'til 29 October. The full version of Life is Strange: Double Exposure for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Steam for PC, and Windows Store goes live on 29 October.
