Riot Games And Tiffany & Co. To Redesign League Of Legends' Esports Trophy

At the heart of every esports tournament lays a trophy accompanied by a championship title and thousands, if not millions, of dollars. Awarded to honor the best team, these trophies are often lavished with jewels and gold to mark teams' hard work and sacrifice, making their victory all the more worth it.

On 18th August 2022, Riot Games announced its latest partnership with Tiffany & Co., the legendary luxury jeweler. Accordingly, the developer announced that Tiffany & Co. would be redesigning the League of Legends World Championship official trophy, awarded to the winning team of Worlds 2022 later this year.

Riot Games Partners With Tiffany & Co.

As part of Riot Games' multi-year partnership with Tiffany & Co., the jeweler will become its official trophy designer. As a result, the company will bring forth various symbols of opulence, which includes its first project, the League of Legends World Championship Summoner’s Cup.

Unlike previous trophies, the Summoner’s Cup will be redesigned to suit the new standards of the luxury jeweler company for Worlds 2022. Riot Games, alongside Tiffany & Co., will unveil a digital presentation of the newly-designed trophy on 29th August at 10 a.m. ET.

In a press release, Naz Aletaha, Global Head of League of Legends Esports for Riot Games, expressed excitement and pride in the partnership and the Summoner’s Cup. 

Naz stated, “The Summoner’s Cup is a symbol of greatness in esports and the crowning achievement in League of Legends [...] as we looked to build on the prestigiousness of winning a World Championship, there was only one partner we aspired to collaborate with on the Summoner’s Cup.”

League of Legends Esports' Global Head added, “Tiffany & Co. is a storied brand and the preeminent designer of the world's greatest sports trophies. We’re honored to partner with them to celebrate our past, present, and future World Champions.”

This partnership makes Tiffany & Co.’s first of many times to prepare and build trophies for well-established tournaments and competition organizers. The company has been handcrafting trophies “representing the pinnacle of athletic achievement” since 1860. 

Among all the trophies it's made, Tiffany & Co. has also crafted the League of Legends Pro League Silver Dragon Cup to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the competitive scene in China.

In gleeful response, the luxury jeweler company stated it’s “excited to continue” the partnership with Riot Games. Subsequently, the opportunity to redesign the Summoner’s Cup “is another important” moment for Tiffany & Co. as it’s another new chapter in the esports industry.

Riot Games League of Legends Worlds 2022 finals kick off 5th November 2022, with the proceeding stages happening as early as 29th September 2022. So stay tuned to Riot Games and Tiffany & Co. as they reveal the championship trophy on 29th August 2022.
