This weekend has brought great moments to all fans of League of Legends competitive, where RNG managed to conquer the LPL, Unicorns of Love extended its dynasty in the LCL, and fastPay Wildcats claimed its first TCL title.
Now, after several exciting best-of-five series, the last three qualifiers for the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational have been defined, with the PCS of Southeast Asia, the VCS of Vietnam, and the CBLOL of Brazil, crowning their new champions.
PSG Talon maintains its dominance in Southeast Asia
The first final of this weekend came from the PCS side, where the reigning champions PSG Talon managed to retain their title as the best team in the region by beating Beyond Gaming 3-0, being a confrontation between the two best teams in the regular season.
This series showed total dominance on the part of those of PSG, by taking the three games very cleanly without much resistance from Beyond Gaming, who had already lost in the previous round in the same way as in these finals, so who reached this round through the losers bracket.
On the PSG side, their road in the Playoffs was impeccable, taking their three series with a 3-0 score with the help of Maple and his signature Azir, and Hanabi with his powerful strategies in the top lane, so they will be one of the teams to follow during the MSI.
The Marines return to the international stage
On the Vietnam Championship Series side, we had a confrontation between two titans of the region, with GAM Esports, formerly known as GIGABYTE Marines, facing off against Saigon Buffalo for the ticket to the international event.
Both teams dominated in their previous series to the semi-finals, where GAM passed Team Secret 3-0, while SGB defeated CERBERUS 3-1.
These games showed the aggressive style of the region, where SGB took the first point thanks to Froggy and Arrietty, their mid laner and AD carry, however the next three games showed Levi's experience in the jungle and the potential of Kati and Sty1e in the mid and bot lane, leading to the Marines' 3-1 victory and their advance to MSI 2021.
paiN Gaming achieves redemption on their miracle run
After its last international participation in Worlds 2015, paiN Gaming will return to the international stage with its victory in the CBLOL finals against Vorax, with a score of 3-1.
Being an old acquaintance within the emerging regions scene, their road in the Playoffs of this split was one full of great battles, beating LOUD and Flamengo Esports 3-2 in both rounds prior to the final, with the latter being the first place of the regular season.
Thus, hand in hand with the veteran AD carry BrTT together, with the experience in the mid lane of tinowns, paiN Gaming has managed to finish its path to redemption after several years in which the team came to play in the second division of Brazil and was out of the big spotlight.
This way, the 12 teams that will participate in the 2021 Mid Season Invitational have been defined, being divided as follows:
