League of Legends is one of the most successful games of all time, pulling in an inconceivable amount of revenue each year. The developers have already branched out into other avenues like animation (Arcane) and different games (Valorant, TFT), but music will always be one of the things Riot Games does the best.
This year, Lil Nas X was given the honor of performing the World's anthem, "Star Walkin'." Already the song is making waves in both the League of Legends Community and the music world as a whole, so let's take a look and see if all the hype is justified!
League of Legends & Lil Nas X Debut World Anthem - Star Walkin'
The song starts fairly gently compared to the more bombastic World's anthems of yesteryear. After the brief intro, the song definitely hits its stride as the more Trap-like features come into play. As a Trap artist, it was expected that Lil Nas X would influence the style of the song, and we're thankful that it did!

The music video features less of a story this time around. Previously, through the music video, we have experienced the trial of a singular player or a team looking to become stronger. Less of a focus on an overarching story is by no means a bad thing, and it allows for more freedom when it comes to animating lots of different elements.
The art style is just as beautiful as all other League of Legends music videos. With their multi-million dollar budget, it is no surprise that everything the company releases looks immaculate.
How Does Star Walkin' Compare To Other League Of Legends Music?
As mentioned, Star Walkin' doesn't hit the same grand climaxes as other World anthems, like Warriors by Imagine Dragons, for example. The same can be said about League of Legends' group K.D.A, who also managed to create an incredibly catchy and authentic KPOP track.
That being said, Star Walkin' is something new, and for a first try at blending a Trap record with the League of Legends style, Riot Games did a superb job. Does the song live up to the other songs Riot Games has created? It's purely a matter of opinion.
However, Star Walkin' is an objectively good song whether you feel like it fits the World stage or not.
