How To Get New Characters In Identity V

Though you can purchase most characters using in-game currency, there are a few other methods to getting more playable hunters and survivors in Identity V, too. We'll show you how to get every single character in the game so not a single one is missing from your roster.

Complete The Tutorial

Just for completing the tutorial, you'll unlock five different survivors and one hunter. Here's a list of the characters you'll unlock for finishing it.

Hunter

  • Hell Ember (Leo Beck)

Survivors

  • The Doctor (Emily Dyer)
  • The Lawyer (Freddy Riley)
  • The Thief (Kreacher Pierson)
  • The Gardener (Emma Woods)
  • Deduction Substitute (Lucky Guy)

Completing the tutorial is also a great way to earn Clues fast in Identity V, since you'll get over 100 of them just for playing through it. If you're a new player, it's definitely worth the time you'll spend playing through it; plus, it's just a strong introduction to the game. You can always skip the tutorial if you really want to, though.

Buy Characters From The Illusion Hall

Once you've unlocked the six characters from the tutorial, all you can do is buy characters from the Illusion Hall one by one. Characters can get pretty pricy pretty fast, so it's a good idea to check out tier lists of survivors and hunters to decide which ones you want to purchase first.

Survivors cost a total of 688 Echoes or 3,568 Clues. Purchasing any Hunter will set you back 858 Echoes or 4,508 Clues.

What Character Should I Buy In Identity V?

If you're looking at all the different ways to get characters in Identity V, you're probably wondering which ones you should get first. All in all, it really depends on your playstyle and your preferences. Once you play through the tutorial and work your way through a few matches, you should be able to get an idea of which characters you like and which ones you don't.

Survivor Character Suggestions In Identity V

If you like the Doctor, we'd recommend playing the Priestess or Psychologist; they are both healer characters and will suit you well if you like that playstyle. The Thief plays a lot like the Batter, Enchantress, and Prospector, given his ability to quickly make distance and avoid the hunter.

The Gardener works a lot like the Embalmer, who can make efforts throughout the match to support the whole team. Finally, the Lawyer functions much like the First Officer, Mercenary, and Seer, given his ability to keep track of the hunter and maneuver around nearby.

Hunter Character Suggestions In Identity V

Since you'll only get to try out one hunter in the tutorial, you won't get to try out multiple types of playstyles and get a feel for the one you like; however, despite being the tutorial character, Hell Ember really isn't a great choice for new players.

Instead, we'd recommend picking up The Ripper, who is only Difficulty 1 and boasts a strong but easily understandable power, much like The Wraith in Dead by Daylight.

As both survivor and hunter, it's a good idea to try out new characters often. The more you branch out and play new characters, the more unique and strong strategic plays you'll end up making.

Now you know how to get new characters in Identity V, as well as which characters are best to buy depending on your preferred playstyle. Good luck!
