Guerrilla Games' latest open-world action-adventure title, Horizon Forbidden West, is a massive leap from its predecessor in several ways. Whether it's world-building, visuals, or gameplay, there's a clear difference between 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn and the newly released Horizon Forbidden West.
It's no surprise that Horizon Forbidden West feels like a diligently crafted sequel that, aside from addressing notable shortcomings of its predecessor, adds just enough nuances to make it a worthy sequel. One flashy new gameplay addition is the Shield Wing. Continue reading to find out how you can unlock it in the game.
Horizon Forbidden West Shield Wing - How to get/unlock
Shield Wing is a traversal tool in Horizon Forbidden West that lets you hover down from high places and reduces the chances of fall damage. This makes it an incredibly handy tool for traversal. Hence, the sooner you acquire the Shield Wing, the better.
Thankfully, you get Shield Wing quite early on in the game. It’s unlocked after completing the story quest "The Embassy." Depending on how many side quests, errand quests, relic ruin and hunting trials you choose to partake in before completing the final main quest in The Daunt region, it can take somewhere between 6-10 hours to unlock the Shield Wing.
It is recommended that you complete this main quest before doing all the side quests in The Daunt as you can always return back there, and having the Shield Wing in your arsenal only make traversal better.
Without delving too much into the spoiler territory, you loot the Shield Wing from the corpse of a certain Tenakth warrior you fight at the end of "The Embassy" story quest.
Once you finish the quest, you are free to use the Shield Wing as you want in the open world. To use the Shield Wing, simply jump off a cliff and hold Square on your controller. You can tap Circle to stop gliding.
That concludes our guide on how to get the Shield Wing in Horizon Forbidden West. Also, make sure to check our dedicated Horizon Forbidden West section for more news, guides, and features.
