We'll also spotlight other notable distinctions between the two consoles, and, most importantly, we'll explore whether the new PS5 Slim is worth your consideration. With many eager to know, there's no need to delay—let's jump right in and discover the answers.

PS5 Slim vs Classic PS5: Comparison Breakdown

Sony announced the PS5 Slime just recently on the 10th of October, and while we don't have a specific release date just yet, we know the new console will be made available sometime in November of 2023. Regarding the new console itself, Sony has reported significant reductions in the size and weight of the new PS5 console, with volume shrinking by over 30% and weight decreasing by 18% and 24%, respectively, in comparison to the current model.

However, Sony's announcement included the new models' dimensions but lacked a visual comparison. Reddit user NatureCertain has stepped in, creating 3D mock-up images based on Sony's provided dimensions, as you can see above.

Sony has confirmed that once the supply of the current PS5 console is exhausted, the PS5 Slim will replace it and be the only available option for the foreseeable future. This implies that parts for the original PS5 will become scarce, making repairs difficult or expensive. Ultimately, acquiring the new model could provide greater longevity for your console.
