It seems that Discord is having a discord with Forza Horizon 5, as players are massively reporting various problems while playing the game and having the popular instant messaging application turned on.
Technical problems with Forza Horizon 5 are not a particularly new occurrence. Since the game's early access release last Friday we've seen a myriad of Forza Horizon 5 crashing issues, which either prevent players from even starting the game, or cause freezes and black screens while playing.
While there are many incompatibility issues between FH5 and Discord, the most prevailing is the one that causes the game to almost instantly crash when using Discord's share screen functionality to stream the game to friends via Discord.
Is there a solution for this annoying problem or will you need to completely stop using Discord while playing FH5? Let's see what options we have at our disposal.
Fixing Forza Horizon 5 Discord screen
share crashing issue
If you like to share your gaming adventures privately with your friends, Discord's screen share feature is one of the best options that gamers have at their disposal.
Unfortunately, it seems that Discord screen-sharing is for some reason having compatibility issues with Forza Horizon 5, causing the game to crash almost immediately upon starting the Discord screen share feature.
In this regard, we have both bad and good news for you, so let's take off the bad ones from the list first.
As officially confirmed by developers, Forza Horizon 5 is inherently incompatible with many 3rd party applications which we usually use on our PCs, this includes Discord as well as many other popular applications.
Here's a full list of conflicting applications, provided by developers:
- Logitech G Hub
- MSI Afterburner / Riva Tuner Statistics Server
- EVGA Precision
- OBS
- Xsplit
- Discord
- MacType
- Warsaw Banking App
- Wallpaper Engine
- A-Volute Sound studio
- Nahimic Audio
- Sonic Audio
Any of these applications can either prevent the game from working or cause serious performance problems and crashes.
Now let's switch to (potentially) good news. Although Playground lists these apps as problematic, as evidenced by Discord screen share issues, players have been reporting about some potential workarounds.
Here are a few possible solutions that you can try, that can potentially fix Forza Horizon 5 Discord screen share crashing issue:
- Try to run Discord as an administrator.
- Use the Canary version of Discord, as it seems that screen sharing is working smoothly with it.
- Switch in Discord to full-screen share instead of sharing only the Forza Horizon 5 window. This is due to FH5 possibly registering screen-sharing as cheating.
And there you have it, the three possible ways to fix the issue. It's not much, but all three of these options were reported to work so if you really want to screen-share FH5 via Discord, give them a try and see if any of them works for you.
