Chapter 2 Season 8 of Fortnite has been an absolute madhouse with major shakeups keeping players on their toes. So far, we've already seen map changes, new weapons, NPCs, and so much more.
The latest title update v18.30 brought with it a new character in the Cube Queen, who is the boss of the Cube Assassin. The evil Cube Queen skin and accompanying cosmetics will be available for unlocking via a special set of challenges.
One of the challenges requires gamers to find a Shadow Stone or Shadow Flopper and Phase for 3 seconds near a player. Here are the best locations where you can find the items and complete the challenge.
Shadow Stone locations - Fortnite Season 8
Shadow Stone's are actually more plentiful than you would think, scattered around the Fortnite island. Gamers can find Shadow Stones on the ground near any UFO crash site, which is mostly populated at the edges of The Convergance (Cube Town).
When you're in the area and come across a Shadow Stone, you will have the option to Consume it, the same as Mushrooms, Apples, and other items of the sort. Call your teammate over when you find one, and get ready to Phase and complete the challenge.
Shadow Flopper locations - Fortnite Season 8
Shadow Floppers are gathered the way any other fish are. Gamers will need to grab a fishing pole and head to the nearest body of water.
While Shadow Floppers can be caught the same as any other fish, they are not exactly plentiful. If you have the patience, this method is certainly viable to complete the Cube Queen challenge, but it will likely take longer than searching for a Shadow Stone.
How to Phase near a player for 3 seconds - Fortnite Season 8
The second part of this challenge is very simple, you'll just need to have teammates (or opponents, though it's much riskier) nearby. Once you have a Shadow Stone or Flopper in your possession, consume it next to another player.
You will then Phase, which turns you into a purple ghost who can speed around at a rapid pace. Similar to Hop Rocks from previous Fortnite seasons, Phasing will wear off after a brief period of time, so your best bet is to complete the challenge and get out of dodge.
