The content just keeps on coming in Chapter 3 of Fortnite with the next update now live in-game. The v19.01 Hotfix arrived with a bang on 11th January bringing inclement weather in addition to a fan-favourite weapon.
Roaming around the battle royale island, you may notice massive Tornadoes and Lightning. However, they're not all bad, as you can use these new map features to quickly transport you to a safer place.
In addition to the whacky weather, Epic Games decided to unvault a classic battle royale weapon that longtime players will love. Here's everything you need to know about the Fortnite Flare Gun including how to get and stats.
How to get Flare Gun in Fortnite Chapter 3 - Flare Gun locations
Labeled "Tornado Week" the v19.01 Hotfix went live on 11th January and is set to bring map weather changes until 17th January at 9 am ET (2 pm GMT). These include Tornadoes and Lightning, (with the latter dealing damage) that can be used as quick escape routes to find a safer location.
Though the weather was not all in v19.01, Epic Games also unvaulted the Flare Gun, a rare weapon with multiple effects. Flare Guns are fantastic for destroying opponents' structures, as they set their targets on fire upon instant impact.
While there is no guaranteed location to find a Flare Gun, like an NPC boss, they have been added to the general loot pool. This means you will have a chance of unlocking a Flare Gun from any Loot Chest or Supply Drop, as well as simply finding one on the ground.
Fortnite Flare Gun stats - Chapter 3 Season 1
The Flare Gun deals 60 damage to players upon impact, and can also be used to set structures on fire dealing 23.4 damage per second to players affected by the flames. This weapon contains only six shots and cannot be re-loaded as it takes special Fire ammo.
The Flare Gun can also be used for marking opponents, similar to a Shakedown. If the shot stays in the air long enough, it marks opponents within a 50m radius for 60 seconds.
Lastly, keep in mind Flare Guns are currently not in competitive playlists but are subject to a further evaluation period.
