Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is set to release next year, riding on the success of the original movie released in 2023. The upcoming film has sparked many fans' curiosities, with the actors occasionally offering some tidbits of info - such as in a recent interview with CinemaBlend, where William Afton actor Matthew Lillard said that the second film will be "expanded" and "improved."
"I think [series creator and writer] Scott [Cawthon] really cares what fans think," Lillard said, noting that he would expand upon the themes and lore explained in the first movie. "I think fans are going to lose their mind with this film."
Lillard has previously stated that he's signed a three-film contract with Blumhouse for the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, suggesting that his role in FNAF 2 likely won't be his last.
Producers are keeping many of the details surrounding Five Nights at Freddy's 2 under wraps, but what we do know is that it'll be filmed in New Orleans, just like its predecessor, and that filming has already begun. It'll also feature all-new animatronics by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, including Toy Freddy, a character that we got a sneak peek of in a teaser last month.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is set to debut in theaters in December 2025.
